January is finished

I decided to pick up the challenge to join Cheryl's month in review meme. I just went with the photos as they were, as I hadn't been planning a photo review. It seemed to be a month of recovering from one infection and dealing with another. And the month always begins with our mentor group. This past month we had a guest speaker who is a cleaning specialist for sure. She arrived complete with cute handouts for our mentees. Cold weather means stew…the upper right corner is Moroccan Beef Stew--yum. Lots of time with Little Brother and Little One, partly because their mom wasn't feeling well (all hands on deck to cook dinner). Little Brother was delighted to have some "school" with me, and to run around checking the level of everything in the the house ...
One cold morning we tried out our wedding-present waffle iron after too long being inactive.
It didn't go so well but it's worth another try.
Finally . . . snow! As little as it was, it stayed around a few
days as it was so cold. The lingering included an icy patch right at our back door.
Cold weather means a fire in the evening and all things cozy.

  1. Dotsie, I love seeing your moments! Your grandboy is adorable checking to see if everything is level. (I kind of find a level fascinating myself.) ;)

I hope that you and your daughter-in-law are both feeling better! Illness is certainly one of the down sides of winter. The cozy fire looks inviting though!

    Thanks for linking up!

  2. How close by do your grandchildren live? So, where do you live that you rarely see snow?

  3. I love hearing about your mentoring group and it's always fun to see the grands helping grandma.
A little, or a lot of snow calls for a toasty warm fire.

  6. I enjoyed the collages. And by the way, spray that waffle iron top and bottom with non-stick cooking spray while it's still cold and then try again. Works perfectly. Love the pics of the kids.

  7. This was a fun recap of your January. Sorry to hear you've had sickness in the family. It seems to go with winter as well as stew! (Stew is preferable.)

  9. That was so cosy-looking, Dotsie. I make a Morrocan Stew as well - with prunes and dried apricots. Time to make it again , I think!
I sent you an email but just received a delivery failure from aol. Said that the message delivery would be attempted again.

  13. Sweet grand babies! Love that you have a lefty! My granddaughter is a left hander too! The only one we know of blood related is my husbands brother!

He's adorable checking the level of things - what a great activity for a preschooler! You are a smart lady!

Is your mentoring group Apples of Gold? I was involved as a mentor a few years ago. I enjoyed it.

  17. I used to have a waffle iron exactly like that. Also a wedding gift. I wore that poor thing out! Then, I bought a couple of different waffle irons that I hated. They were for those big Belgium waffles that were so popular for a while. I just wanted a plain ole heavy duty, old school waffle iron! Nope, not to be found. A couple of years ago, I found a nice heavy weight old school iron at the Goodwill and I love it.
I can't believe it is February already!

  19. Podso,
I loved viewing the "warm~up" start to your 2014, dear friend! After all the "hurry and scurry" of the Holiday Season, one definitely needs a bit of "down ~time"!
Love, LOVE, L O V E seeing the "Grands" as they grow!!!
Little brother is "left~handed"...a family trait??? Using the "level" must have been a hoot!!!
Thanks for sharing your "month in review" with us...I, truly, enjoyed it!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat
