My sister recently polished our mother's wedding gift silverplated flatware (Eternally Yours by 1847 Rogers Brothers, produced in 1941). Mom gave it to her some years ago. It looked so gorgeous "Lulu" decided to photograph it and make a mosaic out of the photos. What a lot of work to polish it all. If you look closely you can see the hands that did all that polishing, along with her camera! I guess you could say my sister is a "guest blogger" today.

Kudos to "Lulu". I actually pulled out my silver chest this afternoon thinking to use the dessert forks for my reading group later this week. Alas, they need to be polished. Should I or shouldn't I? I think I'll sleep on it.
ReplyDeleteIt's tempting because your mother's silver looks beautiful.
Best,
Bonnie
Oh wow! What a lot of work, but the result is so worth it! I have a particular fondness for vintage silverware patterns. I just don't think modern stuff comes near to being so pretty and there's something special about eating off something that is pretty.
ReplyDeleteOmigosh, I'll bet that took a lot of work, but it was so worth it! Beautiful!!! And what a lovely pattern, too. You already know what a sucker I am for vintage silverplate... and this is lovely!
ReplyDeleteWow thats a lot of work there. Nice shiny silverware though.
ReplyDeleteHubby has a set of silver and it does take a long time to polish. But as you know well worth the effort. So shiny and beautiful. Mosaic is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful mosaic this makes...and I'm sure the photos bring back many wonderful memories! ♥
ReplyDeleteIt looks like beautiful silverware and a treasure for your sister to won becazuse it was your Mom's. She made a lovely mosaic to share with us all!

ReplyDeleteHi Podso
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking about silver cleaning today as I was ironing some vintage napkins I purchased.
I don't mind ironing old linens or cleaning the silver I have since I like to use them.
Must be our age group because I can't see either of my daughters doing these mundane tasks.
Thank your sister for showing her sparking silver.
Happy Valentine's Day.
Judith

ReplyDeleteWow! Talk about a small world. That is the very same pattern of the silver that my Mom had that I have now. I didn't know the name of it until your post and just went to look at it to see if it was indeed the same and there was the name on the back! Thanks for sharing the pics!! Happy Valentine's to you!
