happy birthday
When our boys have their birthdays, I always cook them a favorite meal. Youngest wanted grilled chicken, roasted vegetables, corn on the cob, and oreo ice cream cake. This year his wife and I shared things and she made a wonderful ice cream cake. Their birthdays are only a few days apart, and last night we celebrated Eldest's: veal marsala with mushrooms, browned potatoes, carrots, peas, and flaky rolls. We enjoyed our family gathered around the table.
For dessert, since he didn't have a preference, I made a plum tart. It was a little sour, but it was simply fitting with its name!
See Between Naps on the Porch for more table settings!

Very nice table...love the red transferware. That tart looks delicious...a happy birthday to your boys.
ReplyDeleteWe just have one summer birthday in our family, but it's a great excuse to get together. That tart looked yummy.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your boys. Hubby and I married in October, a year later our first son was born in October and three years later, son #2 came along in October. A busy month for sure.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for the window pictures -- but the view from my window in Kuwait would always, always be the same. One day might be clear, one might be dusty, but everything else remains the same. I do miss the changing of the seasons.
There's a purple house around the corner from us. My kids think it is cool. I think it is crazy. Everything in this country is concrete and blends in with its surroundings except this purple house. Looks out of place for sure.
Best wishes to you and yours, Tammy
You set a fine table, sweet thing! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat fun that you can all be together. I usually make a fav dinner too. But this year with Adam moving to TX I'll have to mail a special treat.

How wonderful to have family around a table for sure! It's great to celebrate your loved ones with their favorites!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to have everyone close to celebrate these special days. I love your red transferware. That plum tart looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteI always cook/bake their favorites too, material things are hard to buy for boys (they just get what they want), but food memories last forever! Your tart looks great!
ReplyDeleteI have 3 boys and I love it when they request a favorite. This summer it seems to grilling and my potato salad. Deviled eggs and chocolate cake are tight up there as well.
ReplyDeleteYour table looks wonderful and the tart is picture perfect.

That's my idea of a perfect birthday for sure! A beautiful table and plum tart! :) GORGEOUS! Just a reminder - my Friday Vignette's post is tomorrow, and I'd love it if you'd link up! Even pictures from this post - the vignettes are great! :) Hope you join in! :) Artie
ReplyDeleteBeautiful table! Sprinkle a little sugar on the plum tart, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or even better, some homemade whipped cream (nice and thick), and I know it tasted divine...
ReplyDeleteI've always loved the Johnson Brothers British Castles. My daughter has this pattern. Your use of the blue made this a lovely tablescape suitable for many situations. Thank you for sharing your charming design. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteWe have a strong family tie to Spode Tower Pink, too. I love your story about pounding the veal with the Tower Pink saucer. KC has it, I have service for 12, and then we inherited service for 24 from my mother-in-love. We use it all the time. Great old pattern. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteYour blog exudes an appreciation for life and family and nature that I deeply appreciate. It feels good here. =)
