May Days

" . . . His mercies never come to an end . . . they are new every morning . . . "
May is always a favorite month of mine. It feels like a "pretty" month to me.
Maybe because it's spring, Mother's Day, activities signaling the finish of something for
the year. Life begins to slow down. It's only when I look back that I realize how
full a month can be. This month included: three friend birthdays celebrated in two
occasions; two difficult but uplifting funerals; on-on-one boy time; an after school
milkshake date at the soda counter; Little Miss began to walk in earnest;
a bathroom "re-do;" a first ballet recital; a book club; and the icing on the cake:
a reunion with dear friends from high school days. That's a long friendship.
Time went back, stood still, swirled around, reached
into the future … as we sat and talked for hours.
May was filled with good things.

  1. Gathering the Moments is such a good idea, Dotsie. It's good to take the time to look back at what has just passed and to appreciate all the small blessings that have you've had in the past weeks. You've certainly had a few!

  5. I agree with you about May being a "pretty" month. And I love your photos...and your reflections...from May.

In a way, your "gatherings" represent life as a whole. Birthdays, funerals, special moments shared with loved ones, growth of children...all there, and all treasures. (Even a funeral is a treasure of a sort...especially as you have said that they were "uplifting" indicating to me that you are confident that their souls are with the Lord.)

Thanks for joining me again! I love these glimpses...

  8. May is a pretty month with all the tree blossoms and spring blooms, and the fragrance in the air is wonderful.
Indeed, good times like friends gathering for a reunion and sad times to celebrate a person's life give one a well rounded month of emotions.
A lovely mosaic of May memories.

  11. I think I like May the best of all, too, because it's before the heat and humidity settle in over the area. It's the best my garden's going to look every year. It's also the month of my first born's birthday which will also make the month extra special to me. He wasn't born, though, until the week after Mother's Day so I had to wait a whole year before being feted for that!

  15. Each month is filled with precious moments. I haven't joined the Gathering the Moments group yet, but it's such a lovely way to recap 30 days of the gifts that God gives.
