The upside of having several old trees cut down in front of our house is sunnier rooms
in winter, and planting three new trees. Two of them are Redbuds, my favorite flowering
tree. I love the deep tones of the pinkish lavender and their "wispiness."
Because of our lingering on and off again winter weather, the blossoms are slow
Beautiful! Red buds have always been a favorite of mine too. I especially love the when they are next to white dogwoods...the color and textural contrast is amazing. The ones around here are not blooming yet but a couple more days like today and they will be! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI like redbuds, too. I remember the first time I saw them was when we were studying linguistics in MO. I also fell in love with Dogwoods then. Beauty!

Having trees down does make for change. I can no longer tolerate certain times of the morning in the kitchen because the light is glaring with the snow and all. Prior to the tree going down, it was not an issue. I amy have to give up and put up a curtain.
ReplyDeleteYour redbud tree is lovely and it looks as if you may get and extended blossom time. That Polar Vortex is a bear!
My husband was able to save our Redbud yesterday by using a wench to pull it back up. It was already growing at an angle and the weight of the ice pushed it to the ground back in February. He put a large piece of trunk from another downed tree under it to prop it up and now it looks good as new! We probably won't see buds here, though, for another 4 weeks.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful absolutely beautiful, I have seen so many redbuds in blogland this week, am now thinking of buying one, for early buds of course,. Light does make a difference. Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sue
What an absolutely gorgeous tree.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful collage of redbud blooms. A cheerful sight!
ReplyDeleteA good choice to replant with Dotsie. I would love to have a redbud but they are borderline hardy where I live and winters like this one would surely kill them.
ReplyDeletePlease share lots of photos of yours in flower and leafed out.
It is fun to see Spring springing in the rest of the country.
ReplyDeleteThis is Kris from Simplify. I am at my Mom's and using her computer. Didn't want to change settings, so I am Diane today. She is doing well. Thank God for small miracles!!

ReplyDeleteRedbuds are beautiful! Enjoy those blossoms and Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteThe redbud trees are pretty, beautiful blossoms.. Enjoy your week ahead!
ReplyDeleteRedbuds are so pretty in the Spring. A few years ago we drove to West Virginia and the woods were full of redbuds in bloom. I'll never forget! Enjoy your week! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI love natural light...it is so cheering!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your pretty blossoms!
Love them! I know what you mean about light. I have a "wrong place katsura" which the previous owner of my home planted right in front of the house. Not sure how long it can go on living there, but I love the tree. Hope you have a lovely, sunny and warm week ahead.
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely! I can't wait to see some colour in my world!
ReplyDeleteOh, what beautiful blooms!
ReplyDeleteI cannot WAIT for spring to arrive here. Today was 30 degrees. Brr.
I am so sorry I have been so MIA lately! Been dealing with an illness in the family and just couldn't get to blogland at all. I hope to catch up on back reading all this week.
That's a gorgeous mosaic, Dotsie. Pink blossoms in early spring fill my heart with delight.
ReplyDeleteThe buds are beautiful while you wait for them to open Dotsie.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your photos of the flowers once they have opened! Have a happy week.
I love the redbuds, too. They are so softly graceful... and sing spring with their beauty! Yes, getting more light in a yard changes things! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blooms. I'm visiting from Mosaic Monday.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty mosaic... Red Bud was my mother's favorite tree...

ReplyDeleteLOVE your Mosiac of the Redbud blossoms, dear friend!!!
One of our main streets in Derby is lined with Redbuds and Bradley Pear Trees. . .I keep watching closely each time we go down the street for a blossom sighting!!!
Spring is certainly taking its time.
Fondly,
Pat
I have never heard of this tree - but they certainly look lovely and a beautiful start to spring.
