Our house is filled with old things, including us.
And books. Lots of them.
All this winter, the Gardener and I have said there is
no where we would rather be than tucked in at home, sweet
home. But now, just today, it seems like spring is here
and we may find ourselves drawn

We will have a touch of Spring up this way on Tuesday when it's predicted to be 63 degrees! But it will only be a high of 33 on Thursday! But I'm not going to think about that just now. I'll deal with it when it comes.
ReplyDeleteAs for old things. Surely, you jest! You aren't old at all.....just well worn, perhaps, if you're in my category, which I don't think you've reached yet (60's). :-)
The chair next to the bookshelf looks so cozy to me! A very comfy spot. It is nice that the weather is warming up some to go outside and enjoy the Vitamin D.. Lovely post and photos.. Have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful post to me because it describes exactly how I feel about being home-
ReplyDeleteand I think I see a hint of spring coming-
as late as it is.
Enjoyed visiting,

Oh you are blessed indeed. Lovely photos of your old things. Enjoy the spring weather.
ReplyDeleteOh this is a wonderful "home sweet home" post. I enjoyed seeing the treasures and all the Horatio Alger books...what a collection!
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely home full of wonderful things of beauty. Valerie
ReplyDeleteYou do have a cozy looking home with lots to read and a toasty fire to sit by. If spring has arrived for you, please send it our way for the snowbanks are still 4-6 feet high out the front.
ReplyDeleteI love lots and lots of books in a home...makes it feel so much more inviting. Those look like children's books in the case. Oh, how I love those! Enjoy your week! Hope you have some pretty weather! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHome is good but it's nice to be able to get out and about...
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week.
Your home looks so cozy and comfortable, and no matter where I stray, I always seem to come back to earthy colors and old pieces. That's home to me, maybe because it is so much like the first home in my life.
ReplyDeleteI thought maybe I was the only one who really appreciated winter's coldness as an excuse to hibernate! lol! I do love how spring awakens all of us, and that will be soon!
XO,
Jane
It felt like spring here at our place today. I agree no place I would rather be than at home both inside and outside in the garden, thanks for sharing.

Spring seems to just around the corner, beckoning us outdoors. It's a lovely time of year. Your home is full of warmth.
ReplyDeleteThese old tales many of us miss on our home. I love that everything in your home has story to tell, might be generations old!
ReplyDeleteP.S: Wish I could peep into your library and hibernate there.. :P

Spring has sprung here, and we have been outside all weekend long! I am once again enjoying my swing under the big avocado tree! I even bathed the dogs outside with the hose today! Beautiful weather!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are getting some Spring too!!

It sounds like you are talking about us and our house. Everywhere there are so many memories in things, good and bad. I think that is what a good home should be. Love the blue vase you have shown.
ReplyDeleteYour home is warm and lovely. No wonder you and the Gardener have found such comfort there!
ReplyDeleteWe are getting a bit of warm up too. Though we still have a blanket of snow in our pasture and yard. I am thinking the next few days will help that. I long to see green again, and trees in flower.
Thanks for the lovely photos!
Deanna
I loved this peek into your home. It's so lovely and warm and cozy...no wonder you're content to be tucked inside!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos! I always try to read the spines of books in any photo I see them. lol We have a lot of old things too, just because we've been married so long and tend not to throw things out. :-)
ReplyDeletePodso,
ReplyDeleteThe black & white photo of the desk by the window reminds me of the "dormer windows" in our upstairs when I was a Youth at home. My sister's "dormer" had a desk and chair. Mine had a chair (for reading) and an occasional table. Great memories!!!
Lovely photographs, dear friend!
Fondly,
Pat
It sure looks nice and cozy in your pictures. We are all so blessed in blog land to have beautiful homes to hide in during the winter. Doesn't keep us from wanting spring though, does it?
ReplyDeleteYour mosaics are wonderful glimpses of your home. Home does seem so attractive at this age and we are so blessed to have such comfortable and welcoming places to call home.
ReplyDeleteYour home looks warm and welcoming, Dotsie. Even though I love to travel I always love to come home.
ReplyDeleteI also could not live without books and you have a wonderful collection of treasures!
Such a sweet post from the heart, Dotsie. I love posts about Home. I'm really drawn to your pretty desk; I love the lines of it. I have a hobnail lamp almost exactly like that; it came from my MIL. A house would not be a home without books, would it? Ours is filled with books, too.
ReplyDeleteYour mosaics are lovely and homey. I hope you have a great day, Dotsie. :)
Denise
Lovely!! I wish I'd ever remember to do a mosaic Monday post. Love the books and recognized some spines there! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love a home filled with old things that have meaning to the owners.
ReplyDeleteOur weather has been spectacular and we have wanted to be outside all day. Today I told Steve I needed an indoor day to get work done.
I hope you got outside time.
A lovely glimpse of your beautiful home
ReplyDeleteHow lovely that you are both so contented to be at home Dotsie.
ReplyDeleteSoon you will enjoy the outdoors again as Spring warms up the air, and sends Mr Frost packing!
We're the same these days, home is so comfortable - our haven! So long as I'm surrounded with my books and things I'm content with life!
Beautiful images that speak from the heart.
