time changes things

This is the first time in many years that we've turned back the clocks in the house when little ones were sleeping here. We had the grandies (I've adopted this name you call your grands, Shane) here for the weekend, and yes at 5 a.m. one little voice called, "Grandmom." I couldn't talk him into thinking it was still night time but he climbed in bed with mefor a bit before we started a    l o n g   morning before time for church. That's OK, I'm not used to keeping up with two little ones for a weekend so I went to bed early last night, even for the old time.
When we changed the clocks back last night two odd things happened: Our kitchen clock
that I look at a thousand times a day, probably a mere 30 years old, stopped working.
At the same time my great grandmother's 100+ year old clock started ticking
and gonging again (after a demonstration to the little ones.)

  1. Well, that is a bit bizarre. If it had happened on Halloween, it would have been different :-) Love the store windows, but which store is it. The next time we go to Roanoke I want to go and see it. Love the mosaics. genie

  3. Ah, strange happenings at the changing of the clocks. I'm sure a lot of little ones were mixed up this morning. I like the photo of the store window and it's clock faces.

  4. Hope that it's a matter of batteries. I keep telling John that I want my Sessions clock back in working order. If it started taking off by itself, I'd be shocked! How did the grandies like the demonstration?

  5. I am looking forward to cuddling up with grandkids. My sleeping patterns have changed in the last few years. Don't seem to get that deep sleep I used to. Valerie

  7. Isn't that amazing - how wonderful to have your Grandmother's clock working again.
That would have been so much fun for your "grandies" Dotsi - it's a lovely word isn't it!
When I visited my family, almost every night I was in bed by 7:30 - I needed some quiet time!!!
    A Gorgeous photo.

  8. I like your term of endearment - grandies, it's cute. Interesting thing that happened with the two clocks, more so the older one to start working.
When the twins were 2, and their brother 4, I used to lay on my back at bed time and pass right out from exhaustion after a day of babysitting. :-)

  9. I love your clock mosaic! I'm sorry your dependable kitchen clock stopped working. You will miss it!

My granddaughter also slept over last night and my husband and I were afraid we would be up at 4 AM. I think we tired her ou the evening before as she slept till 6 AM (old time) 7 (new time) :)

  10. The clock thing is very odd. I have an equally odd thing that happens to me...many, many times I happen to look at a digital clock in my home and the time is 5:09. That is the address of the house I grew up in. It happens countless times...5:09. I think it's telling me something but I don't know what.

I think it's just wonderful that you have that little one to snuggle with!

    XO,
    Jane

  11. Grandies sleeping over can be tiring, but so much fun. I woke up early with the time change, too.

Strange occurrence with the clocks. Maybe they have an unspoken agreement that only one can work at a time.

  13. No little ones here but Oliver is confused about dinner time. If it's dark, it must be time to eat. He started staring at us about 4:30 p.m. yesterday--the "feed me now" stare!!

    Loved seeing the Roanoke photo!

    Best,
    Bonnie

  18. Gosh, my kitchen clock did the very same thing! I changed the battery twice and no go. I think it's shuffled off its mortal coil. Not sure if I want to replace the whole clock or just the mechanism. Hope your week is shaping up to be a good one. :)

  19. That's a great word..."grandies"!

Quite an odd thing to happen with your clocks! I'd have looked around to see who was playing a trick on me. :)

    Fascinating mosaic!

  22. Ha! We changed all of our clocks - I forgot about my wrist watch. Left it in the bathroom and when I got up I glanced at it - 7am. So I hopped in the shower and started my day. Went in to see when Mr OP was getting up - he said do you realize that it's only 6:15?

    I love an early start:)
