My measuring spoons and cups didn't used to be so hard to see. And after so many years of cooking, shouldn't I have memorized which is what size? I guess I always need to be sure; it's a funny thing. Maybe its because they never were clearly marked, more like engraved the same color as the cup or spoon. So I published a birthday wish list this year, for my immediate family-lacking-one (yes I missed my mom on this my first birthday without her.) And I asked for clearly marked measuring spoons and measuring cups.
Well my wonderful daughter-in-law took care of that! And the gift came in two separate packages to my door, separated by a few days, which just added to the pleasure of anticipation. These are enamel and look retro and I love them. And I can clearly see them. Tomorrow I'm going to enjoy my first baking with them!
They are wonderful! Very clearly marked...you'll love baking again! Guess someone was listening...
ReplyDeletePerfect! A great gift indeed! I don't know which end is up anymore. I have to take off my glasses to read small print and I'm fighting getting bifocals. Time to bite the dust!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
To take this a step further, I think that once a couple has been married for thirty years (or longer), a household shower is in order. Why not? I could use new towels, a change of everyday dinnerware, fancy glasses and I want one of those new and very expensive Vitamix(?) blenders. I've only had one blender. It was a wedding present. Before our first anniversary, I "blended" a spoon in it. Bye bye blender.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
Nice!
ReplyDeleteI really like the enamel...

What a thoughtful daughter-in-law you have! You will surely enjoy using these gifts. And no more squinting! :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful! It drives me crazy when they're printed with the same color as the spoon or when engraved and you can hardly see it. AND also TV remote controls that are printed in gray on gray.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy using your new utensils. :-) And I know the sadness of not having your mom there to share.
Dotsie, I LOVE these measuring cups and spoons! I saw the measuring cups on another blog a while back, and thought I'd love to have some. I just thought they were pretty and didn't really think about how much easier they would be to read. Yep, I'm having the same problem seeing, too. I've been having to get out my cheap Sam's Club reading glasses a lot lately, so I think it's probably time for an appointment with the eye doctor.
ReplyDeleteThis was a sweet, thoughtful gift, and I know you still miss your mom so much. Best wishes to you.
Hugs,
Denise
Your birthday measuring gifts are delightful Dotsie. I'm a stainless steel kind of gal for kitchen toys, blame it on Martha Stewart years ago.

They do look retro, so pretty with the enamel. I would be tempted to display them. Thanks for stopping by for a visit!
ReplyDeleteHappy, Happy, Happy belated Birthday, Dotsie!! Your daughter-in-law chose so well for you!! The vintage look and the ease of reading BOTH!! I think I may need some of those! It just gets harder and harder to see small stuff. Wishing you a wonderful, wonderful year! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet daughter-in-law! My measuring spoons and cups are nearly 40 years old now. I'd love something new and not so battered!
ReplyDeletePodso,
ReplyDeleteA precious daughter~in~law, indeed!!!
Ah~h~h the JOY of life's simple pleasures.. . .seeing clearly the measurements on your cooking implements! I truly understand!!!
EnJOY!!!. . .and Happy Birthday, dear friend!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Those are really sweet Dotsie. I know you will enjoy baking with them. I have Tupperware ones and never could see the imprint on them. I still have to check and make sure I have the right one for the job too. What are you going to bake?? Just curious. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great gift. I'm resisting wearing my glasses to cook, but the day is coming! Perhaps with measuring cups and spoons such as yours I could delay that day even more.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday with a hug even as you're missing your mom.
I know what you mean! These days it's not so easy to see that embossed number on the spoons and cups for measuring.
ReplyDeleteSounds like we are both August babies too. Don't think I realized that similarity before.
