When we were visiting family and friends in a southern most state last week, we drove to the beach
for our traditional, yearly breakfast on the water. As we started to drive home off the island, I began
to see beauty where I did not expect it. I think if you look well enough, you find beauty
in unexpected places. For example I was struck (above) by the color, the gracious
lines of the fence and railing, and a scattering of leaves against the tree.
Order (somewhat!) and color.
Not the nicest place or foliage, but beautiful spots of pink blossoms speak beauty.
A truck parked near a drug store chain.
(Later in the week): the beauty of storm clouds.
(Later in the week): an old house.
Bonus: photo of house above recreated in P*cnik's "new friend."
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder," but the key is to look for beauty.
You found lots of beauty! Training my eye to look for beauty is an good endeavor! Great editing on your last photo!
ReplyDeleteI believe the "tree" in your top photo is actually a sea grape, and I HAVE seen them big enough to be called a tree!
ReplyDeleteyes, the key is to look for it. i had to look twice at the truck before seeing it as a truck.

With a positive attitude, there is beauty in everything!
ReplyDeleteI agree! It is all in how we view something. What is Picnic's new thing? I don't have access to it as I'm away. Did I miss something? Curious. Pam
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed to spot a beautiful plant in a yard where nothing is being watered.. yet it's determined to live.
ReplyDeleteI love that old house! It reminds me of many I saw as a child near my maternal grandmother's in Pennsylvania.
ReplyDeleteIs Picnik's "new friend" Picasa? The photo corners bring back memories!
Love the shots you chose. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteHi Dotsie
ReplyDeleteYou did capture a lot of beauty and I really like the aqua colour of the house in the first photo.
What is Picnic's new friend? I like the transition of the picture.

Beauty is everywhere when we take the time to look for it. I love the delivery truck against the pink building.
ReplyDeleteReally love how you tweaked the last one. I'm not familiar with that tweaker program. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the way you look at things!
ReplyDeleteWe can choose to see the ordinary, or we can choose to see the beautiful - it's up to us to make the choice. Thanks for sharing your view!
Picnik's new friend? You certainly did find beauty all over the place. Good eye!
ReplyDeleteYou're so right, and so often I forget to look for it. I love the pink pineapple truck in front of a pink store, very pretty!

Podso,
ReplyDeleteThought provoking post! I adore the house with the two huge open porches...could use those here on the Prairie today...it's 91 degrees!!! Thank you for your sweet comment and visit today...the are priceless!
Fondly,
Pat
Fabulous images Podso, you take such great photographs! You found lots of beautiful sights for us to see, like the pink blossoms and the old house...hey, I see beauty in all your photographs. Thanks for coming my friend. I made a table for real last year for 16 friends with my big table like this one. I served shrimp cocktail as an antree. Later it was turkey, wild rice with pine nuts, salad, my mom's best stuffing and gravy, and something else I don't remember, lol..

Yes, you're right, my husband used to have a place on AMI. Did you take any pictures when you were on the Island?
ReplyDeleteShirley
Yes, beauty is all around us, in the most unlikely places. Love this post!!
ReplyDeleteYou have an eye for beauty, Dotsie. It is said that we see the things we are... I'd have to agree with that in your case for sure. Beauty is as beauty sees.
ReplyDeleteOkay, where do I find picnik's friend??? How do you find out about all this stuff? LOL! You know I love that old house!

Hello Sweet Friend
ReplyDeleteI love that Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I work with 2 people who only see the ugly in everything and they actually look for the ugly. It's a shame an I agree with you my friend.
Thanks for stopping by!
Leann
