In the Eyes of the Beholder

When we were visiting family and friends in a southern most state last week, we drove to the beach
for our traditional, yearly breakfast on the water. As we started to drive home off the island, I began
to see beauty where I did not expect it. I think if you look well enough, you find beauty
in unexpected places. For example I was struck (above) by the color, the gracious
lines of the fence and railing, and a scattering of leaves against the tree.
 Order (somewhat!) and color.
Not the nicest place or foliage, but beautiful spots of pink blossoms speak beauty.
A truck parked near a drug store chain.
(Later in the week): the beauty of storm clouds.
(Later in the week): an old house.
Bonus: photo of house above recreated in P*cnik's "new friend."

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder," but the key is to look for beauty.

  2. I believe the "tree" in your top photo is actually a sea grape, and I HAVE seen them big enough to be called a tree!

  5. I agree! It is all in how we view something. What is Picnic's new thing? I don't have access to it as I'm away. Did I miss something? Curious. Pam

We can choose to see the ordinary, or we can choose to see the beautiful - it's up to us to make the choice. Thanks for sharing your view!

  16. Fabulous images Podso, you take such great photographs! You found lots of beautiful sights for us to see, like the pink blossoms and the old house...hey, I see beauty in all your photographs. Thanks for coming my friend. I made a table for real last year for 16 friends with my big table like this one. I served shrimp cocktail as an antree. Later it was turkey, wild rice with pine nuts, salad, my mom's best stuffing and gravy, and something else I don't remember, lol..

  19. You have an eye for beauty, Dotsie. It is said that we see the things we are... I'd have to agree with that in your case for sure. Beauty is as beauty sees.

Okay, where do I find picnik's friend??? How do you find out about all this stuff? LOL! You know I love that old house!

  20. Hello Sweet Friend

I love that Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I work with 2 people who only see the ugly in everything and they actually look for the ugly. It's a shame an I agree with you my friend.

    Thanks for stopping by!
