I found this packet of letters so sweetly tied with a pink ribbon and buried in a box of my parents' "keepsakes." As a young bride my mother had written on the top: "Let your conscience be your guide. This is the personal property of _____." I haven't read them (so far ...) There are plenty of others to read as my parents saved many letters. Hundreds from my grandparents. Any time I want to step back in time, I'll have an easy way to do that.

Love it.....Nowadays that would be on email...:0) Happy PS
ReplyDeleteLucky, lucky girl. What a treasure you have. My heart is aching, wishing we had saved the old letters of long ago...
ReplyDeleteMy goodness you are a good daughter! I'd have let my conscience guide me right to reading those letters. Maybe that's why my mom didn't save any. The packet is a perfect Pink Saturday surprise.
ReplyDeleteIt was the first thing I did when going through my grandmother's things...read the love letters. They turned out to be sweet and not terribly lovey-dovey at all. You are letting your conscience be your guide, which proves how loyal a daughter you are.
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky to have a means of going back in time and reliving the memories of your family. Wish I had saved more.
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful. Noone in my family worte love letters or saved them! I think I was born a long time ago and wrote and received lots of love letters. Such a beautiful memory. Happy Pink Saturday. Grace xoox
ReplyDeleteTHAT is such a treasure.
ReplyDeletePodso,
ReplyDeleteI have piles of letters that "Mr. Ed" and I wrote during his years of military service when we were apart from one another. . .love letters! "Mr. Ed" even wrote poetry to me in those days, as well! I wonder if son and daughter~in~law will open them some day...or not?
Fondly,
Pat
A nice packet of memories tied with a pink ribbon.

What a family treasure!
ReplyDeleteMy mother has packets of letters in her hope chest - letters from her brothers, sent during the war, letters from my dad, letters from me from our years in Europe. It's such a shame that treasures like this aren't created much anymore.
What a treasure!
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasure. I often wonder what my children will think of my prayer journals. I've also thought I should probably read through them again .... just in case. :-)
ReplyDeleteSweet bundle! Just having it would be a joy. Reading can be something to savor later. Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sherry
I woke up today thinking of love letters and how sad it is that so much of our correspondence today is ephemeral and online. I never thought anything could be more ephemeral than paper! What a treasure you have with these. They are such a gift to your heritage.

One day, I hope you will read them... But, maybe... oh, I don't know... ;)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful ♥
ReplyDeleteI keep all my cards & letters in my Hope Chest & they are tied in ribbons too :-)
Happy Pink Saturday Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to have found your blog through PS. This beautiful bundle of love tied sweetly with a pink ribbon (maybe one that your sweet Momma wore in her hair) is such a gift.
I am afraid I would have already read them. It would allow me to see another gorgeous side of my folks I believe. I hope one day you will read them. It was a treasured gift. Keep us posted.
I am your newest follower and can't wait to see what you share next. Country hugs sweetie, Sherry

Oh lovey, such a treasure. Wish I could peek over your shoulder as you browse through them. And LOVE the note on top of them. How telling of what she thought the finder would see/read/think. :)

What a wonderful treasure trove of memories and history! I love reading and writing letters, I don't think I could resist reading about my parents courtship and early years of love. My mom won't let us read hers and dads...a little too risqe I guess...lol
ReplyDeleteThey are so many wonderful treasures to savor and share one day with your family, Dot It is so wonderful to have such beautifully preserved family history like this!
ReplyDeleteI love that you found a stack of love letters. My dad kept a diary at the time he first met my mother - reading that was an eye opener!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! That is such a treasure. And have such good self control. I'm afraid I would have already peeked.
ReplyDeleteOh what wonderful treasures. I have every one that Mr OP sent me when he was in the Air Force tied in a ribbon and tucked away in my hope chest.
ReplyDeleteI hope that someone will treasure them too.
