What is it, this smile of a small child
That we reach for?
We lean in close, fingers out to tickle
Making dorkie faces we'd never live down
With gurgles and coos belying our stature.
A smile comes, Aha!
(Especially good when the whole body smiles along.)
We can sit back and rest,
Joy floods our hearts ...
Until we reach out and begin again.
Just one more smile please.
