fit for a queen

I could not think of a more fitting way to celebrate Judith's years of hosting Mosaic Monday
than by posting about a tea party that was--almost--fit for a queen.
And changing my font color to lavender.
I helped to host a retirement tea for a colleague and friend who was, uh, yes, retiring.
By the time we put together our bits and pieces we
had a lovely event that I think she appreciated.
I concluded we need more such celebrations.
Thank you Judith for your years of hosting MM.
I hope you enjoy this "virtual" tea party
with these photos in your honor!

  2. What a lovely tribute to your friend and also to Judith for her years of hosting the link up. The dark green teacup is such a rich colour.
    Happy Mosaic Monday!

  5. A lovely kind post. I especially like that your group used doilies on the back of the modern chairs to bring them right into the 'tea' atmosphere.

  7. Aww, Dotsie...I am honoured to have you share your friend's retirement tea with me as well for my final Mosaic Monday. And, I appreciate the lavender font! I smiled when I saw the doilies on the backs of the chairs, I do this too - pretties them up and is a better place than to be sitting in a drawer.
Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday while I was host, the meme created a weekly meeting place for a number of bloggers.

  10. How wonderful you could put together such a fitting post for Judith's final Mosaic Monday! What a lovely tea party. Yes, we should all do things like that more often. Would steal that great doilies-on-the-backs-of-the-chairs idea, but they wouldn't stay on my chairs.

  13. What a beautiful post ... and such a wonderful tribute to all the work Judith has put into it over the years. I use to participate regularly a couple of years ago and always found inspiration with all the creativity shared. I was away from blogging (as I adjusted to city living - and back and forth to country home) and have returned earlier this year to regular posting/reading blogs and am now starting to participate in linky parties again. Was sad to learn that this would be Judith's last Mosaic Monday - but feeling blessed to have been able to participate in this last one.

  15. Dotsie, your get-togethers always look so inviting, and this one is no exception! So lovely! I am sure that your retiree friend was honored, and I am sure that Judith was as well. A very thoughtful gesture.

  20. Your retirement tea party spread looks wonderful, I love cucumber sandwiches and scones. Using mismatched china plates and teacups is a great way to make teatime even more enjoyable.
Hopefully Mosaic Monday will find a new home and we'll continue to get together to share our lives through our mosaics and collages.
Have a wonderful week and thanks for stopping by in Normandy.

Don't you love it when a plan comes together?
All the bits and pieces made this a lovely Retirement Tea, indeed!
I adore the crocheted doilies on the chair backs!
