Early morning. My favorite time of day.
When I was younger I was often up at five and
out the door for several miles of fast walking.
(which might be why I had to have a new knee)
Early morning, when the sun is at it's best.
Early morning, full of energy.
The smell of fresh coffee,
and the first sip, steam sweeping up to my face.
A day seems to go better when it's starts early.
A day seems to go better when it's starts early.
I love the quiet and the solitude.
The empty parking lot at the shops.
Freshly stocked grocery shelves all tidied up.
Newness.
People pass by heading for work and a new day,
with hope for what the day holds.
A fresh start, each and every day.
"Up at dawn, the dewy freshness of the hour, the morning rapture
of the birds, the daily miracle of sunrise, set her heart in tune,
and gave her Nature's most healing balm."
~Louisa May Alcott, 1873
Yes, it's my most favorite time of the day, too. :)
ReplyDeleteI love to meet and greet the morning just as the sun comes up. I like how the sun is creeping into your home. It seems to bode well for a good day.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
When I was working, we were on the beach at 6 a.m. every morning to walk the dog before we left the house. Once I retired we stopped the early walks. I like sleeping a little later, but I do miss the beauty of the empty beach as the sun rises.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely header, Dotsie. A fresh start every day--what wonderful possibilities await us! I like the way you think. Such pretty sunlight coming into your room. Happy Spring! ♥
ReplyDeleteOh, yes ... I love chasing the sun, both mornings and afternoons.
ReplyDeletePretty photos of your lovely home. Sometimes I like early morning best. Sometimes I like late nights best. They usually don't go together.
ReplyDeleteI love the slant of light in the morning--it's different from evening's sunset. When I rise early while on vacation I love to go outside before the rest of the vacationers are up and about. It's a grand time of day!
ReplyDeleteI too, am a morning girl.
ReplyDeleteEarly to rise as well and agree with your sentiments.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Vee. Sometimes early morning, sometimes late nights. When I'm up early I do enjoy the early morning beauty.
ReplyDeleteTonight I'm up and enjoying the full moon.
For me, it will always be morning. Dark winter mornings and bright 0530 in the summer. It's my time - with the dog on the beach since we moved, with a newspaper and that first cup of coffee or tea. I'm best in the morning. I treasure the first few quiet hours.
ReplyDeleteWhat grand photos! I, too, enjoy the peace and quiet of the early morning. And watching the sun rise is something I really cherish. Wishing you a grand weekend and Happy Easter.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post! I like mornings the best, too. Especially when I'm the only one in the household who's awake ;)
ReplyDeleteSince we moved last year, we have a gorgeous view and I love sitting on the patio, having coffee, enjoying the quiet. I love Louisa's quote, especially this part, "..the daily miracle of sunrise.."
Lovely idea for a post. I too love the morning rays of sunshine entering the rooms, it denotes hope for the new day.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a very happy Easter Sunday.

Podso,
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos of morning's first light, dear friend!
I, too, am an early riser!
His mercies are "fresh" every morning!
One of my favorite hymns, especially during this Holy Season
is, In The Garden, "while the dew is still on the roses"!
Have a blessed Holy Week and Happy Easter!
Fondly,
Pat
Lovely photos of early light. The forsythia in your blue and white vases is just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI'm torn between getting up early and staying up late, then sleeping in a little. Both are appealing, the latter especially when it's raining.
Happy Easter, Dotsie.
I am with you. I am a morning person, too. I like the quiet and solitude and the peace that the early morning brings. I won't be out walking in the early light, though I really should be. Enjoy Easter.
ReplyDeleteI'm an early riser too, exercise first which is yoga right now and then a brisk walk outside with the dog and back for coffee with hubby. A lot more can be accomplished with an early start.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely pictures, Dot, and I admire you for having that zest to get up and out early. I did that for so long...from a school girl to working girl, to mother of young children. In the past ten years I can now decide if I want to stay up a little later reading or watching a movie and sleep in, or the other way around. Not sure if there if there is a good or bad with either. It sure would be wonderful to capture photos like these though!
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed and happy Easter!

I don't know how people can sleep in and miss this best part of the day. Especially in spring and summer when one can get out and enjoy the beauty of the morning. Mind you, I'm not getting out yet but I sure look forward to doing that, hopefully next month, when the weather warms up. I love the blue and yellow vignette in your last photo. It really speaks spring. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteMornings are the best part of the day!
