I mentioned last week that I had a favorite piece of art at the
Meijer Gardens that we visited in Michigan.
I was immediately drawn to this sculpture of an old man telling a young girl a story.
I'd like to think it's a grandfather.
Love how she's holding his pinkie and she looks enthralled
as she listens intently.
I love these kinds of sculptures that enact a scene. This one is particularly wonderful!
ReplyDelete. . . a thousand words - thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI think that would be a favorite of mine too.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
That is really a special piece. I see the same thing. He looks like an Islander!
ReplyDeleteAwesome sculpture. Love it.
ReplyDeleteHello, it is a lovely sculpture and scene. It does look like a grandfather with his granddaughter, very cute! Thanks for sharing. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!
ReplyDeleteSculpture that I can understand speaks to me. This is a wonderful piece. (I have seldom seen grands hang on every word a grandparent says, but one can dream.)
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! I remember seeing a sculpture of a boy with a book in his lap that I loved. I'll have to search through my photos. I love the innocence of a child's face and their eyes. Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteVery nice piece, Dotsie. I love the doll dangling--very sweet. Do you know the artist? ♥
ReplyDeleteThis artwork is just sweet! What a precious moment captured in time and we can all put a child and grandfather we know in that image I think.
ReplyDeleteI love this! We visit the sculpture garden n Loveland Colorado whenever we are in that area (son and DIL live near) ... And my favorites are always the children and the ancients ( the bronze seems to give them so much character)... And yours combining both age and youth ... And love ! ... Is just perfect.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful.
ReplyDeleteMerle..........
Podso,
ReplyDeleteOh, dear friend, how this makes me think of my Grandfather!!!
He was quite the storyteller, for sure!!!
Thanks for sharing this precious sculpture!!!
Fondly,
Pat
This is a fabulous sculpture! I'd also be attracted to it immediately if I saw it in person. The man reminds me of my late father-in-law--same face and a great storyteller, although half of what she would say would be in Italian.
ReplyDeleteOh I love this sculpture. I think it must be a grandfather as well.
ReplyDeleteI can see why this statue was a favorite, Dotsie! It is quite a story in itself! I, too, will think of them as a grandfather and granddaughter sharing sweet moments together.
ReplyDeleteIt's so wonderfully expressive - his hands and the little girl's face. I can see why you were attracted to it, I would be, too, Dotsie. I wonder what the inspiration behind it was.
ReplyDeleteThat is just enchanting, especially the positioning of the two, it's very clever the way the man is sitting to be at eye level with the girl, I would love it too :)

That is sweet!

What a wonderful statue and so life like - doesn't surprise me this was your favourite Dotsie.
ReplyDeleteI love this, and it's very easy to assume that the storyteller is her grandpa. What a delightful sculpture!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful this is!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful work of art. You can see the excitement in both their faces and body language. I agree this is a wonderful statue!
