From a cocoon forth a butterfly
As lady from her door
Emerged--a summer afternoon--
Repairing everywhere.
Without design, that I could trace.
Except to stray abroad
On miscellaneous enterprise
The clovers understood….

Hello, pretty poem and your sister's images are gorgeous! Lovely post. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful!!! Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteDon't you love that 'miscellaneous enterprise.' Such beautiful photos. What a blessing those little creatures are.

ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! I looked at yours and thought how lovely....and I'm showing a spider! lol Enjoy your week. Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteEmily Dickinson's poems are especially meaningful to me because I've read several books about her and her family. When you put the pieces of her life together, the dashes she left at the end of her lines (instead of periods) become filled with meaning----
ReplyDeleteYour sister's photographs are a "mosaic" in themselves.
We have planted some Milk Weed so the Monarchs have a place to lay their eggs for the little ones to munch on.
ReplyDeletePerfect poem for these images!
ReplyDeleteLovely poem to go with your sister's photos! Monarchs are so colorful. I didn't see any on their migration south this year. ♥
ReplyDeleteLovely 'flutterby'!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy them all summer in my flower beds.

Oh, isn't that pretty! And I love the poem by Emily D. I've been away a long time and glad to see you still here and tending your beautiful blog!

Gorgeous butterfly and wonderful mosaic...I really like the originality of that! I had to look really close to see what you did...I think I figured it out :) Have a wonderful week and a blessed Thanksgiving, Dotsie!
ReplyDeleteGone south for the winter, lucky butterfly. I've read that Mexico is reporting an increase in numbers of monarchs this year - yay!
ReplyDeleteThank you to your sister for her photos.
Such a pretty butterfly on those pink flowers. It looks like warm sunshine there. Here it's dark and rainy. Good for the butterflies heading south.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful to see! We didn't have many here this year for some reason so I hope they return next year. As Judith said above, they might make a comeback.
ReplyDeleteWhat beauty!
