winter afternoon tea

An impromptu gathering of friends for tea (it only took 8 emails) seemed so much nicer at one of our homes than a coffee shop. The grayness of a cold winter day allowed the candles to shine. A wrinkled tablecloth was not so noticeable as we focused on our teacups by candlelight. Individual teapots kept me from popping up to refill a big teapot and we each choose our blend of tea.
We endulged in blueberry muffins and little chocolates,
while we caught up on our lives since the holidays.
Sweets for the palate and
sweet, nourishing conversation.

  1. I love those plates! What are they? And those placemats--just my style. Wish I could have come for tea and blueberry muffins! I also love that cup and saucer in the very first top left photo.

I just had one of my cousins from NY I grew up with, she's younger, though...but still so much to remember and so many memories, her parents, my other aunts and uncles, etc. We were a good group that emigrated back in 1949.
Hope your January is been smooth and have a happy and blessed year.

  18. Lovely blue & white pottery, perfect for a cosy tea time with friends. Individual teapots is an inspired idea, no chance of anyone receiving a cup of overstewed tea that way.

  26. What a great idea that was! I love the individual teapots. My granddaughter is helping me navigate the world of gourmet tea. (Is there such a thing). Anyway tea from The Tea Source. Really more delicious than I thought possible, although I find myself needing a cookie.
