Pockets are handy, but especially for little boys, don't you think?
Our second son, at a certain age was adamant that his pants had pockets,
each and every day.
(He also wore a cap, from rising to bedtime.)
When I saw this little Hummel in my sister's china cabinet,
I thought about "pocket pants," as we called them.
There have been times when our grandson has come for the day
and I request that he wear pocket pants.
We never know what little treasure might need to
be transported home in a pocket.

This is a darling memory of your son and how you were reminded of it by the Hummel.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet memory post, Dotsie! Your son did indeed look as cute as a Hummel boy! My son also loved caps and hats, and wore one as often as he could growing up. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet. My Emma (aged 20) always wanted to have "poppets" on whatever she wore, also. This was only a phase when she was around two years old, but it was a sweet phase.
ReplyDeleteThat Hummel is a great match and no wonder it made you think of pocket pants.

How precious and when I think of little boys and pockets, I think of rocks, feathers and frogs ;) That is exactly what I would tuck into them if I were yet a little girl~
ReplyDeleteI have that same Hummel. This post reminds me of my son, who passed away last year. I would find the most interesting things in his pockets. He was always picking something up from the ground and bringing it home.

So sweet! Your grandson is adorable and I love the pretty Hummel.. Wonderful post and photos. Enjoy your new week ahead!
ReplyDeleteCute comparison! I'm no little boy, yet I have to have pockets! too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute picture of the pocket pants kid! I love hummels, and the grandson couldn't be more of a match for this one.
ReplyDeleteWith only daughters, I've never thought about this but it makes sense for the two grandsons we have. Personally, I like a pocket in the full apron I wear for baking and cooking - always a tissue handy for young runny noses or an elastic for wayward hair that needs tying back.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to Mosaic Monday Dotsie.
I was always leery about what I would find in my son's pockets when he was little!
ReplyDeleteNice piece of Clarice Cliff's Tonquin!
This is such a sweet post. I love garments with pockets, too.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! Takes me back to the days my own son was that age. Always had to clean out those pockets because they were always filled with treasure!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet little boy picture with the sweet Hummel boy figure.
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious little guy and the pictures side by side are amazing! I kept a basket in my laundry room just for all of the little toys I would find in my boy's pockets on laundry day. Good days!

Oh isn't he gorgeous - pockets and a cap - what more could a little boy need!!!
ReplyDeleteA delightful post Dotsie!
Smiling.. smiling... smiling... at the love and the sweet memories... And, how great is that sweet photo next to the Hummel???! Still smiling... blessings ~ t.
ReplyDeleteThat is SO sweet! And yes, every little boy needs 'pocket pants.' Our kids had 'cargo pants' with many pockets and zippers. They were perfect for all the amazing finds around the farm, especially 'beautiful' stones. I can't tell you how many stones I found in pockets over the years. They all reside under the yew bush outside the back door. No one ever missed them, and I could point to the yew bush if they had, exonerating me from having 'thrown them away!' But I think the fun was in the collecting, not the keeping. :-) Brings back fun memories. Love the photo!
ReplyDeleteOh I adore this and the pocket pants pictures!
ReplyDeleteLast year my grandson would wear only pocket pants and, yes, my daughter had to check the pockets faithfully before washing! Now at almost 5, he will wear pants without pockets, but they still have to be comfortable, i.e., sweats! To get him to wear jeans requires expert negotiations. Would love to crawl into their little minds to see what they are thinking...
ReplyDeletePodso,
ReplyDeleteAdorable post!!!
Having taught early childhood for many years. . .
pockets were a way to keep hands "out of trouble"!!!
So~o~o much nicer to remind children to put their hands in their pockets,
instead of keep your hands to yourself!
Fondly,
Pat
He is adorable! Love the cap and the pocket pants. Sweet post.
ReplyDeleteSo darling...both your little son and the Hummel figurine that reminds you of him! Pockets are quite handy, aren't they? :)
ReplyDeleteAww....adorable little pocket pants! Pockets really are handy little inventions aren't they...especially for little boys! Sweet post!
