It takes only a few minutes to get out of our suburban part of the city and into rolling country side. The Gardener and I decided to take a couple of hours the other day and "get out of town." It's amazing how much just a few hours away can do to refresh our spirits! There still isn't a lot of fall color here, but it was a beautiful day.
Our destination was a small town where there was a shop I wanted to visit.
It was so interesting and so much to see.
Followed by lunch at a small local cafe. (Our view out the window.)
Just a few hours in the country can be so therapeutic!
I don't live in the city, but I do think that a couple of hours away from routine is restorative!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly can be! I'm very glad that you did it and I hope that you don't wait so long next time. Did you buy anything or just look?
ReplyDeleteI bet it did you good too!!! Nice pictures!! Peaceful!

Oh yes! After living in a rural village, I couldn't go back to living in a city type setting. I would miss the cows on the farm leading out to the highway and the huge sheep farm on one of the lines where I turn down to come home a different way sometimes.
ReplyDeleteIt's the number of trees too that make you feel better out in the country.
You didn't say if you bought anything at the little shop...?

Not just fun, but a wise outing. Real refreshment. Must convince my Gary we should do the same.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great time away!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed looking at your photos - it was like a time away for me.

Lovely. I live in the country and can vouch for that! The gift shop has some very nice things and it's fun to visit small towns and new stores. Did you buy something special?
ReplyDeletePodso,
ReplyDeleteOddly enough. . .
"Mr. Ed" and I just finishe a Day Trip and we, too, throughly enjoyed ourselves!!!
That shop looked like a great place to mill the time away!!!
Spending time with the loves of our lives and seeing life on the other side of the fence is indeed, a winning combination!!!
Fondly,
Pat
I agree totally about a quick & short get away.
ReplyDeleteI need to buy some Annie Sloan paint and the store is a 40 minute drive. We always turn it into an outing. Steve puts the top down on his car, we drive along the coast and then head inland on winding mountain roads. We go to the shop for my paint ( and because Steve is with me, I don't explore and thus spend little money) and then a special grocery store for something exotic for dinner.
We are gone about 3 hours, but it feels like a mini vacation.
close by ..... ? Where?!
ReplyDeleteI would love to have shadowed you on that road trip!
ReplyDeleteMy itchy fingers would have gone straight for that wire basket of lace and doilies - looks so yummy!
