It seems that in movies at least, funerals seem to take place in the rain. And so it was for my mom.
A cold, damp rainy day that got surprised by rain changing every so often to big white
flakes falling from the sky. We were amused. We had hoped for some
snow all winter and it finally came on the day we celebrated her life.
The snow did not stick on the ground, but it surely added to the day.

The sun came out for a bit in the afternoon and then the sky suddenly darkened.
Thunder clapped, lightening briefly filled the sky and suddenly snow fell in a serious manner.
Huge beautiful flakes quickly whitened the ground and clung to the trees.
It was a gorgeous way to end the day.
Temperatures dropped and by morning we still looked out on a winter wonderland.
How beautiful to see the snow clinging to spring blossoms against a deep blue sky!
What a brief, but beautiful gift. If mom even noticed, I'm sure she smiled.
How amazing, and such a day to celebrate the life of your mother.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful post. My Mother LOVED the bech, and warm weather. She knew I hated the cold too. The day we buried her was Feb. 3, 1991. It was WARM, and SUNNY and just a beautiful day. I KNOW my Mom had a hand in that:):) XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteA beautiful snow fall is a memorable way to say goodbye to your Mom's mortal body while her spirit is safe with the Lord. God bless you all.
ReplyDeletePodso,
ReplyDeleteIt's as if a bit of Heaven came down and Glory filled your soul!!! I'm sure your Mother was smiling...that was the sunshine...her pride in all her loved ones and their rememberance and celebration of her life here on Earth!
Thank you for sharing your Mother's journey with us, dear friend! We will know her better through your life!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Isn't the snow pretty sticking to all the branches and the swing though!
ReplyDeleteCertainly a day of wonder to remember.
Judith
It will become part of the memory and the way you describe it is so lovely. I also like the "if she noticed" because I really don't imagine that there's much on earth to notice when Heaven becomes home. I hope that there were smiles and laughter along with the tears and that your precious mother was honored in many wonderful ways.
ReplyDeleteGlad your hard day is past, but so pleased it seems as if it went well. I figured it would. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd that's one nice, gloopy snow. Looks like the wet sort.
Love to you, Dotsie <3

ReplyDeleteThis is such a sweet post, Podso. I'm glad you were happy about the snowfall, and you are blessed to know your mother is with the Lord.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are lovely; we got some pretty snowflakes here, but not a bit stuck on the ground.
Take care of yourself.
Denise
A gentle snow ~ so appropriate for a gentle passing of one made white as snow. Blessings to you and your family.
