the legumes are back

Reading blogs can lead to all kinds of things, including ...  i  d  e  a  s !
I saw something similar to this on Pat's BackPorch Musings and could not
resist duplicating trying to duplicate it. I used some left-over lentils, beans, and dried
peas for my mix. The smallest, squatty candle is the lid from the middle-sized one.  Now that dusk comes early, we enjoy lighting a candle or two or three while we eat our dinner.
Reposting this from a year ago, for once again these are on our table as we welcome fall.

  9. I'm glad you reposted the candles because I didn't see them the first time. They are cute and look like they would be fun to make. Candles just seem to make the most simple meal special. Have a great week!-----Shannon

  11. Podso,
Lovely soft hues for Fall decor! I adore all the inspiration we get from those blogs we follow. We, too, have been enjoying our candles in the evenings, once again!

  12. Looks so fresh in here. :) Hey, if my family saw me putting lentils in a candle jar, they'd applaud. They'd much rather look at them than eat them. Lentils mean the cupboards are really bare!

  13. I just began a 21 day vegan kickstart diet, so all my legumes will be in my pot cooking, Dot.:) They do make pretty candle holders!

  15. Hi Dotsie...

Oooh...your autumn candleholders turned out sooo pretty, my friend! I love this idea! The other day, I had considered ground coffee for a jar filler...now I have a few other options as well! Thanks so much for sharing your pretties with us...love your photos!!!

It's such a delight having you join in with the Sunday Favorites party this week, my friend! I hope that my note is finding you and your sweet family all doing well!

    Love ya,

  16. I think these will be perfect for a harvest table. I have some beans that landed at the back of the pantry and could be past prime--that is if legumes have a "prime".

  19. Re your comment about the choir. If you saw "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou" you know that choir. It really reminded me of that scene where they were going down to the river to be baptized. The music was very nice and very non-traditional. After all, they are a California couple!!

    Best,
    Bonnie

  20. So beautiful and so seasonal! Love this idea!

Thank you for your kind words on my blog today. Did you ever have a cold when your glands, ears and even teeth are tender and hurt? I am really hoping tomorrow is a better day.
