It's so hard to believe that it's been 40 years (this week) since this very proud moment in my life.
Here I am standing in the middle of Manhattan with my parents. We shortened our uniforms
significantly the night before, knowing admin. would not stop us from graduating at that point!
I was so glad to be done and to have gotten through a rigorous four years.
The other night on FB, friends from nursing school and I had a chat about the
old days since it was such a big anniversary. (That, to me, is what is nice about FB.)
I haven't seen those girls in almost 40 years, but it was like we'd never been apart.
After a year of hospital nursing I became a Public Health Nurse,
a job I absolutely loved. Here I am heading out for the day with our yellow beatle
(one of the few cars the Gardener fits well in, believe it or not!)
I'm in my 6th year of blogging and near my 1000th post, so decided it was time to
share some family pictures during this significant anniversary week in our lives.
You can guess what I did right after graduation ... stay tuned!!
OH, Dotsie!! I so loved seeing these photos!! I can feel the excitement, the dedication, the idealism... Oh, what a special time. I can only imagine the lives you have touched in four decades. Kudos to you, dear one.
ReplyDeleteAnd, congratulations on 6 years of blogging and 1000 posts! That is an accomplishment.
I CANNOT wait to see more this week! Congratulations on all your milestones and I'll be celebrating with you way down here in Texas!! Woo hoo! And, while it is not usually one of my colloquialisms, this deserves a big, "'Atta girl!"
Well done. blessings ~ tanna
Dotsie,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful story. I am just starting to find friends from HS and college on FB. Haven't seen any of them for many years.
Congratulations on your blogging. From time to time I think about stopping but I truly enjoy the results.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Carol
What a treat to see you (and your happy parents) on graduation day. I miss seeing those starched white uniforms! Congratulations on your blogging milestones as well. I'm so glad I found you! I'm excited to hear more.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
I always love your pictures. And the stories from "back then." Looking forward to more! Oh- and as to your blogging, remember you were my inspiration to start myself!
ReplyDeleteHi Podso
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize you'd been blogging for this long, congratulations on this and reaching a milestone post!
Our oldest daughter is an RN and I realize what a close relationship nurses form, and keep, through her. This year she begins her masters.
I look forward to seeing more photos and hearing of your steps to this point.
I'm thinking I should consider FB.
Judith
Happy Memories, lovely photo. :)

ReplyDeleteOhhhhh..you REBEL with your short (not really) hemline :) Enjoyed the pictures!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! Congratulations on your 1000th post. You are one year and many posts ahead of me!
ReplyDeleteI miss the cap and uniform that inspired such confidence. We've spent such a lot of time in hospital with TGD this year and I never know who is a nurse and how is a cleaner - really. Everyone wears some sort of wrinkled poly outfit, some with cartoon characters and some mismatched, green and blue. I know it sounds awful, but they could have been washed with the dog's blanket or left on the floor and then put on again.
You look so young but very professional!
Wow! Congratulations on everything you're celebrating this week. 40 years of nursing is an amazing accomplishment. I love the pictures and the fact that you shortened your uniforms for the graduation! Didn't we wear the shortest skirts ever? And hot pants? Oh my. Looking forward to many more blog posts from you. 1000 is a lot! Blessings and hugs, Pamela
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 1000 posts and 4 decades of public service, Dotsie!
ReplyDeleteThis is so sweet and a wonderful tribute to your family. Well-done, sweetness. :)
ReplyDeleteThose are great! Look at your mom!
ReplyDeleteHope you celebrated!
Congratulations on all of these achievements. 40 years since graduation, 6 years of blogging and so many posts! Wow! I am impressed, I am now on my third year of blogging and I'm afraid that I feel like it is wearing thin...I am due for a break in Sept. hopefully I will come back revved up to blog for another year!
ReplyDeleteI only have two old friends on FB, one never answers when I message her and the other is a man, an old grandpa now, heehee! I guess I'm an old grandma, but it would be nice if I could find my other friends, but I don't know their last names, unfortunately I have lost touch with all of them.
Hugs, Cindy
Happy 40th year of nursing! Congratulations on 6 years of blogging and a 1000 posts...wow!
ReplyDeleteIt is my 38 year but I retired soon after my hospital closed a few years ago. It was time. I miss it, but not the hours (I worked the night shift!)
