I'm doing a small "re-do"of our family room ... the fireplace many of you commented on is still a work in progress. I've been emailing photos to my sister and her friend and they send back comments. It's been fun. And I've been "shopping the house." So I took this faux plant from the living room, or "parlor" as I like to say (it really isn't nice enough to warrant the title "faux"plant, so let's just say "fake"), and redid it in a large container for the family room, or "library" as I like to call it. It has been up atop a bookcase for years so I gave it a good cleaning. I don't even remember where I got it or if I arranged it myself and I never much noticed the basket it was in as it was way up there.
As I took it apart I realized I really liked the basket. I loved its shape. But what to do with it?
Aha ... some of my old books, formerly in a cloche in the wintertime, might look good in the basket. Set on the library table, this brings the basket to my line of vision many times a day.
And I smile.
You have a dab hand at decorating, my sweet. :)
ReplyDeleteDotsie,
ReplyDeleteI like it! I have to shop the house because I have no more room!!!!LOL

I like that basket too. And the little bowl next to it. Always great to move things around that you already have and give them new life. I am constantly rearranging and changing out living room. Hubby and one of my best friends don't understand my need to do it, but I like to change things up ever now and then. Have a great new week. :) Tammy
ReplyDeleteThat does look wonderful! I like your arrangement very very much. It has such a rich look! Maybe I need to "shop my house" a bit!

Moving things around, taking a new view and using something in a different way are all ways to refresh oneself and one's surroundings, I believe. The books in the basket are somehow 'friendlier' than books under glass. I'm smiling too!
ReplyDeleteLove the basket filled with books Very nice!
ReplyDeleteLIKE!
ReplyDeletePodso,
ReplyDeleteDarling basket! I have several I stash away in the lower level and then bring up for various times throughout the year. Nice to "shop the house" with our current economy!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Never thought of filling a basket with books. I do move things around from time to time and it is so satisfying and free! Joni
ReplyDeleteHi Podso,
ReplyDeleteThat really is a very nice basket. It never hurts to have items surrounding you that cause you to smile!:)
Hugs and smiles, Cindy
I smiled, too, Dotsie. Love that basket! It looks great with your books in it. More interesting than a plant! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteGood moves, Podso! The basket looks great on the desk. I've been rethinking many of my things too and rearranging makes me happy. Now to get rid of about half of my stuff...I really only want to live with what makes me happy! If I only had the energy to match the dreams...
ReplyDeleteHappy August!
Hugs,
Sherry
I've been getting "in touch" with some of my acquisitions as well. A few will find another place to live in the house and some will find other homes!
ReplyDeleteYour previous post reminded me of the shower. My friend, Diana, seemed to just keep adding places at the table and it worked!! The groom and his father both attended. The father was there so he could get the groom on a plane back to California right after lunch. It was fun to have them--a first for both.
Best,
Bonnie
The books in the basket is a wonderful idea.
ReplyDeleteI scrolled down to your previous post. Loved it and the cake! Happy B'day!
I love baskets and use them for storage in many places in my home. I like your basket and it looks perfect on your desk filled with books.
ReplyDeletePerfect solution. I did a similar "shop" with a wire basket I had hanging around, and put some of my fav Elizabeth Goudge books in there. Look for a blog post in a week or so about my completed "French Room ." We flow on similar paths you and I ;)
