phoney tales

Story # 1: Here is my phone's little stereo system.
While the sound coming out of this little device is
very good, the tube enables it to be more in a stereo effect. I enjoyed making it
after seeing it somewhere on the 'net. But to be honest, the best sound
comes when you put the phone in a small bowl or just lay it on some granite.
Story # 2: We have the custom of saying grace before our meals.
On more than one occasion I have finished cooking the meal and getting
it on the table while talking to (usually) my sister. We sit down to eat
and since we still seem to have more to say, we ask if the person
at the other end would like to say the blessing for us.
Here I am holding the phone while my sister prays on speaker.
Then we start eating while continuing the conversation, begging her
forgiveness for eating "in front of her."
I will admit there are usually a few smiles.
And yes, our big snow storm has arrived!

  1. Cute title! It is bright sunshiny here in Maryland! Depending on what you do with the storm today, we're supposed to get it tomorrow night! Perhaps if you all face East today and tomorrow, it will move out to sea instead of heading up the coast inland.

  2. Interesting little amplifier. Funny about sisters. During the Beatles Tribute a couple days ago we were texting back an forth all through the show. I do love technology!!

  3. Love the title and contents. I occasionally share lunch over Skype with one of my daughters. Stay warm and cozy in the storm.

  5. How special that is! I don't have a pod or an iPhone. I think John has a big boy phone now. I have a flip phone. And you've been trying some Waterlogue. Stay home and stay cozy!

  14. If I make that amplifier my family will be seriously impressed (or worried!) as I am the least technologically adept person in the house. I use the iphone as.....a phone. That said, I'd like to try that new App that everyone is using and that you've incorporated so well on your side bar!

  15. I am always talking to my sister too but I never thought of having her say grace and continue the conversation at dinner. Great idea! We are enjoying watching it snow as we sit inside our nice warm house. Love the watercolor at the end of the post!

  16. Love this cute post, Dotsie. To be honest, I don't keep my cell phone turned on half the time. :) We still have a land line at home, and my husband always has his phone on because he has to be on call for work (he's in IT).

That's sweet that you can have your sister to "join you" for a meal. She must not live close by.

Yes, we DID get some snow this time, didn't we? It's been beautiful, and it's good for the earth because it gives the ground a good, slow soaking. Enjoy your weekend, Dotsie!

    Hugs,

    Denise
