an empty slate

A whole new year ahead of us--some think of it as an "empty slate" yet to be written on.
What will it contain? I'm not big on resolutions, but I have
been thinking of some goals, and many of them involve my time, and
my life-long goal of focusing on others. And yes, I will try to laugh more this year.

I thought if I put the year on my chalkboard plate, it might help me remember it
since I won't be writing the date as often as when I worked in the hospital.
How strange that last night, for the first time that I remember, I dreamt
about being at work, caring for one baby in particular who didn't have a crib.
How oddly our minds can work!

Wishing you all the best in the new year  . . . 2  0  1   3!

  4. It always takes me awhile to write the correct date. Good idea with that chalkboard one...wonder if the printables gals have done anything for 2013.

  5. I find I always have to stop and think about the year when writing it out, your slate will be a good reminder for you. And, as you said, to keep on track with goals.
Our daughter that is in the labour and delivery finished last night and starts her new FULL time job at the college teaching the RPN course. She still plans to work at the hospital one shift a week because she can't give the babies up entirely. You both are special women to have worked in this area of the hospital.

  7. That is an odd dream. Our minds do some strange things when we sleep don't they? :) Happy New Year to you too! I'm taking down some of Christmas today and the tree will come down tomorrow I think. I'm enjoying the lights one more night. :)

  8. Podso,
2013 is going to be a GREAT year for us both!
Beginning with our retirement at the middle or near end of the year, we didn't get to see the full picture! I use to tell my employees (library), sometimes it makes more sense of how we apply our policies when you have come "full circle". I want to see a year of retirement come "full circle".
Looking forward to seeing what's happening in your circle of the world, dear friend!
    Happy New Year!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  9. Happy New Year! Displaying the year in a visible place is a great idea - I usually ruin a cheque or two before remembering.
I hope 2013 brings you much joy.

  12. Great idea to put the new year within eye's view. (I need all the reminders I can get!) And I like to determine goals rather than make resolutions too. Semantics maybe, but it seems different to me.

    Happy New Year to you!

Since retiring, the days and weeks fly by. Now the years seem to fly by as well. 2013? How did that happen? :)
Even in your dreams, you focus on others, Dotsie. You are a very special lady.

    Happy New Year!

  16. Even after 11 years, I will still occasionally dream of the OR. Less and less frequently though. ;) Happy New Year, Dotsie! I look forward to seeing where your year leads. blessings ~ tanna

  17. I like the chalkboard plate! Wishing you all the best in the coming year!!

To answer your question, it is cold here but not as cold as it normally is. And, we've had no snow other than a dusting here and there. Although nice for being out and about, we need some big snows because it's very dry.

    Best,
    Bonnie

  18. All the best to you for the coming year! I enjoyed reading "The Year That Was" I was a kindergarten teacher and part of the joy of each day was the comments the children made with such clarity!
Maybe you'll be getting new pyjamas from the girls for your birthday.
