and if you were to look inside ...

... some of our windows you might see glimpses of ...
 ... nothing new ...
... nothing special ...
... but dearly loved ...
... passed down through generations ...
... or delightfully discovered ...
... and tucked inside them all ...
... stories to be told !

  1. When we were newlyweds and shopping for our first home, I loved going through the models. Everything nicely matched and beautifully accessorized. When I had the space and the money, I planned to do the same. Thankfully, it never happened! I love being in my home and surrounded by things that have meaning to me and mine. I know I'd be quite comfortable in your home. Thanks for bringing up such nice thoughts this morning.

    Best,
    Bonnie

  2. I simply adore this post! It's Linderhof! Stories about trying to fit some piece of furniture (or two or three) into a car to drive home (with one of you sititng on the floor) is much more fun than saying, oh, yes, we bought this at Blank Furniture Store 3 years ago!

And family pieces . . . they have generations of stories in them!

  3. Hi Dotsie
I see a place where you are comfortable, have pieces you love, and some with memories of family. A home that looks lived in is more inviting than the brand new sterile environments one can see in magazines, they lack warmth.

  7. My home is also filled with family treasures. Nothing special, nothing fancy. But special to me!!!
It is what makes a house a home. I think.
    Have a great day!

  11. I have to respectfully disagree with the "nothing special" part. In my way of thinking, it is the treasure things held close over time that make a home special... not the latest decorators whim. ;) I love your home. blessings ~ tanna

  15. A house full of stories will never be boring. It might not make the magazines, but the life there is nourishing to all who pass through its doors.

I'm sitting on the couch as I type, looking at the yard sale tv stand, the wedding present chair (35 years), the dining room table made by my husband 25 years ago, and on and on.

    Love this post.

  16. Absolutely...stories each piece could tell...that is what decorating a house is all about, the stories it tells..and if you change it out too much there aren't any stories.
