the reader

I missed the Book Thief when it was here in the theaters and have not read the book
yet but want to. Meanwhile here is "my" little book girl. I love when I visit her town.
She's always there, sitting outside the town's library nestled
on a ridge over looking her little mountain village.
I think if she was a thief, she would have been caught by now.
She's always reading the same book each time I visit.
Fancy that!

  1. I love it! We have a bronzed statue on the order of yours also in front of our library, but ours doesn't have a little puppy. Whenever we visit an historic home that has the former occupant in bronze we always take our photo with it. Hmmm....sounds like a good post. :-)

  2. That is darling! And the reason she's reading the same book is because the dog keep distracting her. I know the feeling. :-))

  3. How charming. She's likely enjoying her view and that distracts her from her book.

  9. Sweet!

I haven't read the book or watched the movie. I hear it is a tear jerker.

Love that this is outside of a library!

  13. She's a little darling. :) As to the book/movie...didn't see the movie either, but thought the book was exceptional. You might enjoy it. A mildly tough read, but the author dealt with the hard parts very delicately, I thought.

  14. What a lovely sculpture to have outside the library.
I'm sure all the children love her and hopefully her presence encourages them to read.
Funnily Dotsie, I'm just reading The Book Thief now - it's very good. I haven't seen the film.

  18. Oh, I love your little reader! Books are a "must" in our family, and as the mother of two once-young little girls, your pictures bring back such sweet memories!

  20. What a beautiful sculpture! I think it is so lovely to see this young girl reading a book instead of a computer. I have a china bisque ornament of a girl sitting reading a book that was my grandmother's and it's a favourite of mine. I haven't seen the movie.

  23. This is charming, Dotsie! As much as I love books, I would definitely enjoy having this statue in my own yard. :)

Visiting from Mosaic Monday -- hope you have a great week.

  24. Podso,
    Love the statue!
"Mr. Ed" and I are regulars at our City Library here on the Prairie. When "Mr. Ed" noticed I was reading the same book, he bought me my own copy!!!

  25. Such a pretty statue. Where is it? It reminds me of when I was little. We always had our hair in braids and I was always reading.
