That' really lovely... very "new year" with a little twinkling holdover from the holidays. :) I have twinkling candles (battery powered no flame with remote control) on my mantel, which by the way is quite similar in look to yours, and I just love to turn them on as it adds so much to the ambiance of the room.
Love a decorated mantel and admit after Christmas mine is looking rather bare, this is pushing me to do something with my own. We have lots of Hodder & Staughton red material bound books from the old days, love them x
So beautiful... I love each little detail... pieces of you (esp. a book of Africa)... I left lights up after Christmas, too! Hee hee. I found myself a Valentine flag yesterday to hang on the porch. Just made me smile when I climbed down off the ladder and took a look. ;) A love holiday is just fun. blessings and hugs ~ tanna
Very pretty! I'm always sad when the lights come down after the holidays...they add such a twinkle and a smile to the day. I think I'm going to take a lesson from you and leave a few out! Happy Friday!
I'm all for twinkling lights year round and like how your strand winds around the mantle decor. The book on Africa reminded me that I finally found 'Out of Africa' on Netflix to watch again after only seeing it once when it came out at the cinema. Guess I'm a chick flick kind of gal, cried some through it and think both Streep and Redford played fascinating characters.
Your mantel looks beautiful! I love the vintage family photo and the addition of little hearts and cupid banner! I have two brick hearths but only one has a small brick shelf above. I would love to add a wooden mantel to the one that is flat one day, so I could decorate it!
It looks lovely. The twinkle lights are great during the winter months aren't they. I like your Valentine banner across the front of the mantel too. Have a lovely week.
Kati is using my string of little lights to brighten her room in the early morning when she rises for work. She is not a morning person and the lights help to cheer her in the pre-dawn. They have a battery timer, so they come on every morning at the same time, before she is awake.
However, I missed them, so I recently bought a battery candle, also with a timer, to replace the pillar candle in the lantern on my mantle. Every little bit of light helps during the winter months!
Your mantle is lovely and I love the full view of it in your header!
That is such a pretty mantle, Dotsie! I often want to join Amy's Five on Friday but for some reason it's hard for me to come up with five things or five photos or any five things related! Yikes. I think I need to organize my brain. :-)
Lovely. I think it's time to pull out some Valentine decor at this old house.
ReplyDeleteThe metal heart is so beautiful.. I love the globe.. I want to buy one for my son...

I agree. Leaving lights out all through winter really helps to get me through the dark days of winter, too.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I see that nifty globe ornament, too.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great way to use the little lights. I always miss mine one the holidays are over. Thanks for the inspiration.

ReplyDeleteYes, those little white lights look so cheerful especially reflected in the white paint.

ReplyDeleteGentle lighting is so relaxing. We left the lights on the tall dracaena plant in the family room this year.
