thinking on mothers

I often think of the women who came before me,
and now especially on Mothers' Day.
Their way of doing things
probably influence me today.
Oh the stories they could tell of their hard lives.
I'm grateful for how well they raised their children,
and how they passed down their personal knowledge of God's love.
(I only knew one of my four great-grandmothers.)

  1. Lovely collage of the women in your family and of course you are very much like your mother. With the conveniences we've grown up with, it is mind boggling how these gals performed their chores, especially cooking and baking without A/C on a real hot day.
    Happy Mother's Day Dotsie!

  6. This is very special, Dot...a beautiful collage of warm memories for you, I'm sure. I barely knew either of my grandmothers. Still, my mother and father were so fantastic, I can only believe they were lovely women.

Happy Mother's Day to you and lot's of love. Hope you are doing well!

  7. That is a sweet collage, Dotsie. It's wonderful that you have those photos. I think it's so interesting that even mannerisms and sense of humor seem to get passed along in our genetic make-up. Best of all, the knowledge of the love of God, as you said. A treasure.

  12. What a beautiful collage, Dotsie. We are so lucky, those of us who were mothered with love. I never knew any of my great grandmothers, and only one of my grandmothers - and she died when I was only eight.
