Last summer in Germany my camera was drawn to one window after another.
This is maybe my most favorite of them all. I love the shade of green on the tattered shutters,
the deep pink flowers interlaced with white stretching up to meet lace at the windows.
Reflected you can see the tower on the rather humble church across the road.
It would be lovely to be standing or sitting inside this window, looking out on a busy street.
I think it would be a good place to have a cup of tea.
And this just arrived today, hot off the press. A friend
pre-ordered it for my birthday and I think we
will be reading it for our book club. It's a thick
book and looks good. I love the title.
It will be good to be back in Mitford.
I love this pic from Germany! How special ! It would be lovely viewing this window or looking out from the window to the street below.
ReplyDeleteToo bad someone didn't see you looking longingly at the window and invite you in for a cup of tea.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new book.
That is an amazing window, indeed! In addition to all that you said, the grill, and the cornice add even more to the loveliness. And the fact that the window reflects the church across the street makes it a WOW photo!
ReplyDeleteI love the flower boxes with flowering plants. Such personality.
ReplyDeleteI love the window and the book title...time to read!
ReplyDeleteInteresting title on the book... let us know what you think after you read it!
ReplyDeleteI can see why you liked this window --it has almost a storybook illustration quality to it! This sounds like an interesting book --I'll be curious what your review will be, Dotsie.
ReplyDeleteA new Mitford novel! I love Mitford!
ReplyDeleteThat window is great. I like the colors together too, the lace curtains, the history of such a place.

I love your pictures of your travels, it opens up the world to me. Great window, and enjoy the book.
ReplyDeleteWe will be reading that new Jan Karon book! Mine should arrive tomorrow courtesy of a gift card from a student!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the Mitford series too so I'm sure I would enjoy this book as well. Love the window with the green shutters. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt's been awhile since I stopped by for a visit! I'm looking forward to reading that too. I have it on request at the library. I'm number 43, but it looks like they have a lot of copies so hopefully it won't be too long .
ReplyDeleteThat is such a charming window! You have a good eye, Dotsie...you always find the greatest subjects to photograph!
ReplyDeleteI am getting ready to read the new Jamie Langston Turner book, just released last week. She is one of my favorite authors. Her latest book has been a long time coming, but my daughter preordered it for my birthday and brought it yesterday.
What a pretty window! I love the lace edged curtains, the wrought ironwork and the flowers. The book sounds wonderful. I didn't know there is a new one by her and I really enjoy her writing.
ReplyDeletePodso,
ReplyDeleteAh~h~h. . .the gorgeous laced windows in Germany that lined the cobblestone streets!!!
Today, on the Prairie, it has felt like European weather of Baumholder.
Cool, gloomy and a misting of moisture on the windshield as "Mr. Ed" and I ran errands.
If I close my eyes, I can see (and hear) the village children playing fusball (soccer) in the lane.
Thanks for the precious memories!!!
Fondly,
Pat
I loved all the Mitford books...didn't know there was a new one ! :) Yay!
