five days

Five days away, up near the top of our country.
Cooler temperatures. Different terrain. Delightful outings.
Best of all, time with old friends. We take up where we left off
as the years between fade quickly and we're back lining our
babies up for photos, going on picnics, working on a project together,
all while learning how to be parents.
As we remember, we gazed at the beauty
of summer gardens at Como Park Conservatory.
Fading they were, in preparation for fall, while
the scent of "old fashioned" roses fills the air.
We walked, sat and talked, and walked some more.

  3. I like the first photo in particular, the stunning garden architecture and the wee person checking out what looks to be a brochure for the conservatory.
It sounds like your visit with friends was pleasurable, enjoying each other's company and travelling down memory lane.
Enjoy the rest of your week!

  4. Some wonderful photographs. Such a beautiful place! Did you live in that area at one time or did these friends from the past move there later?

  5. What a beautiful place! And what a beautiful place, for photography ops.

Your first photo... Magnificent. And a bit of Christopher Robin, thrown in there, too. :-)

"Old Roses"... The only kind, which my husband grows. They are precious and beautiful. Without all the full-show-y-ness of hybrids. :-)

    Gentle hugs,
    Tessa~

  6. The setting was gorgeous (and love the cooler temps part!), but I love what you said about "taking up where {you} left off" and the "years between fad{ing} quickly." So beautifully written and what a blessing to share again with such friends.

  8. Lovely pictures...especially the one with the little guy by the pond. He looks like he is reading a map and figuring out where to go next.

  12. A gorgeous garden. The conservatory is beautiful with its curves and setting. Time with old friends is always precious. I think that the friends made as young families are the ones that really stick.

  13. A feast for our eyes Dotsie!
Como Park conservatory could be in England and a range of flowers, all perfect specimens within the controlled environment!
My favourite of all is your photo of the little one engrossed in what he is reading!
Such times spent with our oldest friends is most precious of all.
