Shach

We still miss our dog, the girl dog with a boy's name--Meshach-- who we adopted
when she was about one. A very pretty, gentle and loyal lab-chow.
Yes she had a black tongue, and a lab personality.
Her coat could get really messy and thick and she was hot in the summer so we often
had her shaved, poor dear. She felt a bit humiliated, but would still proudly pose
when the camera came out.
The first photo was taken at night with flash, the other two without.
I did nothing to enhance these other than cropping.
Shach lived until she was 14. My son captured this wonderful
photo we have framed. It shows her expressive eyes.
She always looked right into our eyes.

  2. Beautiful dog. My sister had a Chow-Newfoundland mix. What a sweetheart she was! I'm sure the memories of your girl will stay with you forever, but what a blessing to have great pictures of her too.

  9. Oh Dotsie, I LOVE that last picture; it really captures the sweetness and patience of her spirit. Yes, we do miss them long after they're gone, don't we? Our Scotties have always looked right into our eyes too, and that's one thing we love about them. It's a form of communication, if that doesn't sound too strange. The second picture is funny with her stylish haircut. :) Our dogs were always self-conscious when they had to be shaved because their hair got too matted, so I think it's cute that Shach would still pose for a picture. What a great dog!

Thanks for sharing these pictures with us. Duncan is really catching on to his potty training now (thank goodness), and he's still a bundle of energy. He does make us laugh, though. :-D I hope you have a great weekend; it looks like we're in for a rainy one.

    Big Hugs,

    Denise

  11. Oh yes, that last photo is a keeper. Have to admit, I'm embarrassed for her shaved look too but am aware how hot these dogs can get. A little sad to think that one day Topaz's photo will be a memory as well since he's getting up in age.

I love the middle photo - she may have been embarrassed but she held her head high and looked you straight in the eye - that takes courage.
