stormy weather

I just happened to take photos of a big storm we had last week,
though I had forgotten the subject of Donna's next photo challenge.
Here's my two views of the rain, captured as dusk began to fall.
Then we had another afternoon storm … actually we have one nearly every day now.
This was taken during torrential rain, though you would hardly know!
I especially love looking at the rapidly changing sky as the storm advances.

  3. Oh phew! I only did one more than you did. I was worried that I might get the boot. ☺

That first photo is amazing. I looked at it for a long time and am going back to look again. It's dreamy, as if looking into a distant tomorrow. I love it.

I think that you get an A because I can really tell that it's pouring buckets. Sometimes, I couldn't capture the rain itself.

  4. The last one...who mows that lawn...is wonderful, too, for the bouncing raindrops on the pavement.

  5. Parabéns pelas fotos!
A primeira com o contraste entre a serenidade do interior e a chuva do lado de fora ganhou o meu coração!
    Um abraço
    Congratulations for the photos!
The first with the contrast between the serenity of the interior and the rain outside has won my heart!
    Hugs!

  9. Great shots...not sure where you live...but I live in Florida and yep we have showers just about every afternoon....

Of course there is just something about stormy weather where you just want to curl up and read or just watch the rain...

    Great post!

  10. Your shot of the chair in front of the curtained window is lovely. One has the sense of the storm seen from a serene room.

  11. Stormy days like these can be a change from constant sunshine, but you wouldn't want them to hang around too long. Wonderful photos of rain pouring down.
Interesting how monochromatic everything becomes in the rain.

  12. If you don't have to be out in the rain it has a mesmerizing effect to stand and watch it pour, doesn't it? When it rains hard, the ground can't absorb all the water and much of it runs off so give me a day long gentle rain any time.
You've captured some nice rainy day photos Dotsie, a good time to catch up on indoor chores.

I tried one day last week while at work but the rain was too light.

  18. Thanks so much for sharing your stormy weather photos. I do enjoy that first one looking out as so many others do too!

Although it is rainy here in the southern hemisphere as I write this, it is winter time, albeit in the sub tropics, so I had to hark back to an old photo for this challenge, from our summer storm season!

  19. We are still deep in our drought and several people are telling me about the torrential rainstorms they are photographing.

Your photos look almost like watercolors.

  24. I love your pics taken looking out the window ... I guess stormy days have a beauty of their own as long as we've got a nice warm sheltered spot to observe from.

  25. The first photo is so cozy and the light is perfect. I can feel the damp on my skin from the downpour. Lovely shots.
