Go rain! As in, a cheer for the rain we need. But on this particular day I was wishing it would really "go." I ran into a big box store for just a few things when the sun was shining. A scattering of clouds looked like they were predicting some weather, but it was, after all, only a quick visit. I came out to the most torrential rain that I've seen in a l o n g time. I waited calmly, thinking it would certainly blow over in a minute. But it didn't. So what does one do in such a situation?
Re-bag the groceries so they are rain protected. That includes purse. Go back and ask for more bags, thinking head cover. Wait. Watch others and what they do. Wait some more. Take a few pictures. Check email and FB. Call home. Wait, beginning to be concerned about the cold food in the heat. How long can a torrential downpour last?
Finally, almost 30 minutes later, the slightest lull. I fashion a rain hat out of a plastic bag and head to my car, thankful for sandals as I wade through deep water. Dripping wet and thinking an umbrella would not have helped.
Nothing much to learn here; it is what it was.

It has been raining here too. I am loving it but then I am all cozy at home not in the grocery store.
ReplyDeleteI am smiling with you today, friend! Dottie
Oh wow, dear Podso...such rain!! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteFABBY
I love getting a taste of how you think!
ReplyDeleteWas your umbrella in the car? I always have one there and always say "next time, I take it in" but....!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
You got some great shots while you were waiting it out! I probably would have just made a run for it!
ReplyDeleteLove your new banner picture!
XO,
Jane
No rain here, but we would welcome some.
ReplyDeleteHope your weekend is fine weather for whatever you have planned.
Hello Dotsie
ReplyDeleteWe both have rain on our mind. Even if you had an umbrella with you, the groceries would have become soaked. Waiting it out is the best thing to do I'm sure and at least you took advantage of the wait to take some photos.
Our front yard is starting to float from all the rain. ;-)

I'm glad that you weren't wearing flops. The last time I tried all of the above, I went skidding like a duck on ice. That's quite a downpour. Hope that your weather is very nice next week as ours is supposed to be...cooler and lower humidity.
ReplyDeleteWhen I checked the weather on my computer this morning it indicated little to no chance of rain.
ReplyDeleteSo imagine my surprise and DELIGHT when it began to rain quite hard and steady while I was in the library working!!! It lasted that way for several hours - - - and we sorely needed it - - - I AM THANKFUL!!!
We had a big downpour yesterday, it brought some nicer cooler temperatures. Waiting out the rain is the best thing you could. I wish you a happy weekend ahead.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of rain! We've had our share of downpours this summer! Is that a new banner? I like it!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a lot of rain...Parking lot looks like a lake.
ReplyDeleteI have been caught a time or two just like that. It was sunny when I went in the store and raining cats and dogs coming out. I see that you added some textures. Very nice. Valerie
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, that WAS a torrential rain! Looks sort of like a monsoon. We do need the rain, but it doesn't soak into the ground when it rains that hard. Glad you got home okay. :)
ReplyDeleteDenise
Such a familiar experience here in the tropics during our monsoonal wet seasons. I've waited longer than an hour on quite a few occasions because I forgot an umbrella! Glad to see you're getting some of the much-needed rain though.
ReplyDeleteWe had rain last night. ^_^ Now it feels fall is just around in the corner. ^_^

That WAS a downpour! The grocery store is the WORST place for rain to strike! ;) blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeletePodso,
ReplyDeleteSomething tells me you WEREN'T 'singing in the rain' on your way to the car!!! I have throughly enjoyed our last few rains here on the Prairie!!! But, not sure I'd have been thrilled being caught in a downpour!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Just looking at the height of the water against the car wheels would make me want to stay in the store until the flood waters had receded. i would never try to drive in that much water!
ReplyDeleteIf you were a child you would have loved playing out the in the rain till your mother told you to come in! Love the way you have tried 4 different processings with the pic!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week.
I am linking up with you at Mosaic Monday.
Wow, that was a nice, good, long rain, and I bet once you got back home, you were forever thankful. We have been getting rains like that too, need so much more though~
ReplyDeleteSomehow I missed this post and the 2 after it. Again! This very thing happened to me a few times this summer. So, I just stayed in the store and continued shopping until the storm subsided. I also started carrying an umbrella in the car and take it into the grocery store in my reusable bags bag. I like the mosaic. Pam
