simply beachy

We had not been to the beach at summer time in years. So the Gardener and
I slipped away in the middle of the week to use our choice hotel deal for two nights.
We had such a good time: walking on the beach,
touring an old city by trolley; eating at interesting places, and ....
... walking around a Family Amusement park. It was mainly
for small children and we thoroughly enjoyed watching the excitement on
young faces and their exhausted parents. We actually felt somehow OK with the
fact that those days were over for us! In fact one guy walked passed us
and said, "Wow, it looks like such fun to just sit and watch!"
Unfortunately our neighbor phoned us the last day to let us know a large limb
had flown down from a tall tree and entered our house via the front window.
So we rushed home to clean up before another storm arrived.
Thankfully it's only the window ...

Excuse the phone photos!

  1. Excellent photos. Hope your trip wasn't ruined at the end by the news of your window. Sorry about that, but so glad you got to get away. :)

  2. Wonderful shots from the beach and amusement park. My days for getting on rides are over. I am sorry your window broke, glad it was not worse though. Have a wonderful week ahead.

  3. It looks and sounds like a nice "get away" trip, Dotsie. I love the beach and the excitement of an amusement park.

I'm sorry you had to rush home but glad that not too much damage
    was done by the storm.

PS: Thank you for the explanation of why some barns go unpainted ..I never knew that fact!

  5. Podso,
What a wonderful place to "get away"! Thankfully it was a tree...at first sight I thought maybe someone had broken in! Years of trained observation for employment purposes does have its perks once you're away from the job. Lets us see things others might miss...like those expressions on the faces of the children! Have a blessed week!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  6. So sorry the tree tried out javelin practice on your front window.

Which beach did you go to?

  7. Oh what lousy timing that old tree limb had. Glad that you weren't at home...it might have scared you a lot. It would scare me to hear glass breaking that way.

On the other hand, what a delightful getaway right in the middle of the week.

(I agree, it's very pleasant to not be responsible for little ones all the time anymore. I enjoy my one day a week and am grateful for the six I have to recuperate. ☺ )

  8. Sounds like a relaxing get away Dotsie; something we should all do now and then. Watching kiddies on rides is gratifying to see their excitement.
Too bad about your window, thankfully it wasn't worse.

  9. You know? I love to people watch. That would be an interesting place to do it too - the beach and the amusement park. Sorry about the damage to your window but it's a good thing it wasn't worse - like the whole tree on the roof!

  12. I'm glad you had such a wonderful time...we've only been to the ocean once and how I loved it. So sorry about the tree damaging your home. Wouldn't you know it! Just when you are out of town too.
