Every so often I think it's time to put the "closed" sign on this blog.
After nearly seven years, what more is there to say. But it's no secret that I have a
pretty active mind. I don't need to listen to the radio when I drive.
Yesterday when I arrived at work I could barely remember the drive,
I had so much I was thinking about.
So this is how it happens. I walk through the kitchen and spot my red onion.
I love to leave these in full view and consider them a simple, cheap,
and beautiful additon to my home decor. What a pop of color.
My mind began to consider how the simple things in life can bring us
such enjoyment. Such as a red onion.
"Now, that might make an interesting post. I'd at least love to take a few pictures."
The camera is always nearby. I took no more than five minutes to take the pictures,
off load them onto the computer, and then another five to "edit" them
(make them look more beautiful.) As I did that I wondered why we
get such a kick out of close-ups in photos of things we can enjoy close up by just
leaning in closer to look at the actual thing.
Maybe it's just me, but I do love those close-up shots!
I put the images to my desk top and let them settle there for a day or two.
Meanwhile in a tiny corner cupboard of my mind, I considered
what I might say with these photos.
Another day, after I finished with some other computer work,
I took a "creative break" and switched over to Podso's dashboard to write this post.
I left it there in draft to simmer for awhile and edit it a time or two. And here we are.
I guess Podso is not closed down yet.
How do your posts work?
NO! Do not shut down Podso!!!! I would miss the musings of your mind and heart!
ReplyDeleteOh good heavens...glad that you got that resolved...
ReplyDeleteMy posts work a lot like yours only not as well. =D
I like this post very much. You've told us some pertinent things and revealed more of yourself in so doing. And you told us that blogging does not take all that long. You've got it down to a science now! And I love the onion, too.
Now, no more foolish talk... stop blogging... I don't ever want to hear those words again from you!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou need a creative outlet... and we all need (and love) you!
Great images. I love close shots too!
Nooooo! Don't leave me! You are one of my longest blogging friends. I'll let you know how I put my posts together after another 1, 111 posts from you!!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
Oh, please...don't quit on us! I love reading your blog, such a breath of fresh air.
ReplyDeletePodso,
ReplyDeleteI do hope you'll stay on with blogging!!! What I love most about your blog is how you paint the pictures with your words!!!
I post from something I've been doing (or thinking) and then take the photos. Still a paper and pencil first draft person, then keyboard, let it sit, edit, spell check, resize and frame photos...then publish! Pretty cut and dry! It rained here On Crooked Creek...so refreshing...much like your blog, dear one!
Fondly,
Pat
Onion and pasta - a beautiful combo on the plate and in a photo.
ReplyDeleteI gather ideas as I go about my days, much as you do. I forget more than half of them, some a file away in a notebook and then the odd one, I'll use.
I'm glad you've decided that there are more photos to put up, more ideas to offer, more thoughts to share.
You describe the blogging process so accurately! Oh yes, I've had those same experiences and while there may be down times, the enthusiasm always comes back, fired up by something visual usually. The close ups are so fascinating to me...it's all those details seen with such concentration that please us I think. So glad you are not closing down!
ReplyDeleteI have not been able to post this week. My thoughts have been to scattered. Maybe because My Little Loves have moved so far away and I miss them. Dottie

ReplyDeleteNo, no, NO - - - don't close down the Podso Bloggy Spot!!!! Blogging isn't really about the information - - - it's about the SHARING and that doesn't need "new stuff."
Is that Wacky Macky in the jars next to your gorgeous red onion???
Blogging could possibly be about finding kindred spirits that enjoy the simple things of life that others share. I too looked at your red onion and thought 'what a beauty'. All those layers and the possibilities it could offer for the cuisine of a kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI have known 2 bloggers that shut down; one very recently and it saddened me.
If my week is busy and I can't find those spare moments to post, I don't do it and offer no apologies. There's always another day and something of interest to share so I'm glad you've reconsidered Dotsie.
Take a break if you must, post less often, but don't give it up.
Judith
I'm glad you're still here! :-) Sometimes I do 'bits and pieces' for my post meaning I'll write down a thought and then come back later to finish it. Other times, I'll write the entire thing in one sitting. No rhyme or reason! :-)
ReplyDeleteWe all have thoughts of quitting. But as long as you can have fun, keep it up. I didn't post for 2 months, cause I was just busy, and it seemed like more work. I think I look for photos I want, then create a post around it. I too, love the close up shots.
ReplyDeleteI hope you continue to post, I so enjoy coming to your blog. It really is a creative outlet and capturing simple images, such as a beautiful red onion, can give us much to think and talk about!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
I'd hate to see you "close up shop" -- adore your pics especially the closeups. And yes, I do like closeups as well and you can edit them to get closer ups!
ReplyDeleteAs to posts, I write them after dinner -- usually. Sometimes I have an idea and other times not.
I know what you mean, I have been thinking very strongly about closing down my blog...but I posted today, so it's still up and going, too. I did not realize that you have been blogging for 7 years, though! That is a mighty long time!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your posts, always!
Close ups are nice, I can't tell you why, they just are.
Have a great week.
Hugs, Cindy
I remember the school house lights, too, there was one in my school in state of Washington, in grades 1, 2, and 3. I will never forget them!
I've been away from blogging for awhile and have considered closing down, too. But then I look at something and think, "what a great photo op" or "this would make an interesting post." I'm glad you've decided to stay on - your blog is interesting and fun.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you've decided to keep blogging, Dotsie! I often find the most innocent and unfussy posts are the best part of blogging, when we can be ourselves and just "talk" I do love the visualization of photography and it's always fun to view something common in an uncommon way.
ReplyDeleteI try to bring my camera with me when I am on errands, so I can show different neighborhoods of New York. I am always behind in writing posts and there are many waiting to be written...someday!
Dearest Dotsie,
ReplyDeleteI too keep thinking I might "pull the plug", and then I don't because another post idea presents itself.
Your blog is one of my favorites. Your photos and writing - YOU - are what keep me coming back for more!
Hugs,
Zuzu
I am so glad i stopped by your blog today. i've had a bad blogging summer for one reason or another and the worst thing is that even though you have visited me several times I have failed in my visits to you and many others. I will try to turn over a new leaf with the beginning of September. I love your closeups - they just might inspire me this fall. See you again soon.
ReplyDeleteWe share so many of the same thoughts and feelings... I'd sure miss you if you stopped. xoxo ~ t.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you are still posting. I always enjoy your posts and photos and it's been a pleasure getting to know you. Keep up the great work!! Blessings, Pamela
ReplyDeleteOh please please, do NOT stop!! I love your blog. We all have the occasional thought of packing it in.. but then another good idea comes along... I love your photography and your musings...
