On a cold, very gray day, grandson and I traipsed into our woods
to check out his dad's jon-boat stored there. We'd had a lot
of rain since we last looked at it.
Sure enough, full.
Mucky water.
This sweet boy wanted to clear it out for his dad.
We discussed how this would work, and how
we might stay dry and fairly clean in the process.
We just happened to have the perfect size buckets for the two of us.
It was hard work but we both worked equally hard and
our mission was accomplished.
We came inside and got warm, read a chapter of Narnia,
and then got busy arranging a H. Depot store.

Next we purchased supplies at HD and then built a log cabin bank.
Three rooms, three windows, and a fenced parking area.

I savor these times. The grandees are growing so quickly.
What a lovely smile of satisfaction with a job well done!
ReplyDeleteA job well done! What fun to do it together and then to have warm times inside.
ReplyDeleteThey do grow up so quickly, Dotsie. A boy and a bucket of water is heaven. Wonderful memories for him and you. ♥
ReplyDeleteThe H. Depot store is priceless! How wonderful to have the camera handy and capture these precious moments! ENJOY!
ReplyDeleteDotsie, Time spent with young ones is precious. Love the Home Depot store is cool. Thanks for sharing. Sylvia D.
ReplyDeleteYou are making such investments in the lives of your grandchildren . . . making memories, sharing projects, feeding their minds and hearts with good things!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely way to spend a day with your sweet grandson!
ReplyDeleteHe looks about 5 or 6 and I'm looking forward to sharing days like this with my 5yr old granddaughter when she arrives here! I can't wait to read Narnia to her too, though her English is not as good as the older girls - no matter we'll manage one way or another Im sure!
I'm not familiar with the H Depot Store but I imagine it's like our timber yard come hardware store- am I right?
I always love reading your posts Podso and feel I would easily fit into your world.

What a lovely boy he is ❤︎ Wishing you a good week, staying cosy and warm - and reading!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet that he wanted to do the work for his dad.
ReplyDeleteSavor indeed. Oh, he is growing so fast, Dotsie. I'm heading to Ft. Worth later today to see my grandboys. Seems like between every visit (and it's only been two weeks) they have grown another inch or two... and become more "grown up". I love so much the desire to do service for his dad. Such a sweet little soul. And, awesome HD and bank! Fills a grandmother's heart. :) blessings and hugs ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteSuch sweet memories--for both of you.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
Sounds like great teamwork to me, a wonderful way to spend time with your precious boy. Your mosaic shows just how cleverly it was done!
ReplyDeleteSweet times with your grandson. I love joining in the imaginative play times. And water is always a great source of fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat job you two on emptying out the boat, working together made the task more fun! Always interesting to problem solve with the grands, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteGreat day -- I remember those special times with our grands and always especially enjoyed the one-on-one times. (now it is my daughter's turn to be grandmother -- how time flies). You've taught that sweet boy quite a bit and had tons of fun just here in this one post. And I'm sure that's only the tip of the iceberg.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun time you had! I like the idea of coming in and doing some log cabin building. Sounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great day with your grandson!
