About this week

First there was a piano recital. Little One is growing up so quickly!
Then an indoor picnic with burgers cooked on one of these green eggs.
Possibly the best burgers ever!
The final gathering of our mentor group…the end of a two-year journey together.
We celebrated with a wonderful dinner of hors d'oeuvres.
And lingered enjoying an early summer evening on the porch.
Some of us nearly-lifetime friends enjoy celebrating birthdays--a good
chance to get together, and we did so this week.
This little dessert … do you see the center?
Ganache! Oh my.
School is out this week and Little One and I
celebrated with our third annual end-of-year milkshake
at the counter of the"local." She's goofing around for the photo.
Bonus: Tea tray.

  2. When we first "met", Little One really was a very little one! I'm not familiar with a green egg cooker but that tablescape is very inviting.

    Best,

  9. What a nice week you've had, Dotsie! I remember when our son was growing up, this time of year was filled with end-of-school-year events. I also remember those piano recitals. I took piano when I was growing up, and then we attended our son's piano recitals, as well. His piano teacher was such a special lady.

I hope you'll be participating in the mentoring group again next year? I always think that sounds like such a wonderful idea. :) All the food looks delish, and the hamburgers sound great! Love the picture of fruit and ganache!

It sounds like your summer is off to a great start. I hope you and your loved ones have a nice Memorial Day weekend.

    Blessings,

    Denise

  13. Your table of food looks so good. Congratulations to your daughter, I find it impossible to play piano in front of other people.

  14. When our schools use to let out for the summer at noon I'd always take the boys on a picnic somewhere. When the schools stopped doing that I wish I'd thought to do something else--your milkshake is a great idea!

  15. Great Five! Your little one doesn't look little anymore! Crazy how fast that happens. Will you begin with a new group of gals to mentor? Such an important ministry.

  16. Good eats in your photos. Little One is so grownup, but still looks tiny compared with the grand piano. Your hors d'oeuvres look delicious. We still have one month before school is out officially, and I'm starting to count down! Enjoy summer activities with your grands.

  17. Your granddaughter looks so grown up sitting at the piano Dotsie. I sat through a 4 hour dance recital for our youngest granddaughter today but at least it was air-conditioned because it was 86 outside.
I like the end of school year traditions, something I regret not doing. A friend makes a chocolate cake for her boys and even though she makes it at other times, she says that is the special one.
Love the table for your indoor BBQ picnic!
Hope you're having a lovely Memorial Day weekend.

  18. Your little one is so adorable playing the piano. It's so much fun to see them grow up. The food photos you shared are amazing! Everything looks so good and makes me hungry. I like the beautiful table setting of your indoor bar-b-que. Our weather this weekend is a bit overcast but it's suppose to warm up later in the week. Enjoy your holiday weekend! Pat

  25. Very nice post. What a cool shot at the recital. I love your table. I did a simple one too. I have to comment on the sculpture on your side bar of the girl on the bench. I have a similar one taken at my library. It is on my book blog. I enjoyed visiting you. Come over and see me.
