A road trip up north has kept us occupied for the last 10+days.
The Gardener had meetings, and we included some time with old friends,
and family in our travels. We loved seeing Spring for a second time
and enjoyed some cool weather.
and enjoyed some cool weather.
We were near the Gardener's home town so that always
means a visit to the cemetery.
means a visit to the cemetery.
It rained all or some of each day we were away.
It wasn't bad except when downpours made driving difficult.
I love the abundance of old homes and churches that fill the landscape.
And authentic diners!
It seemed good to have a blogging break, but I know
I'm in for good reading as I catch up.

It's nice to 'visit' spring again. We could use a little rain over here - very dry right now, and watering restrictions are already in place. I like the architecture of the eastern seaboard, especially the white clapboard churches.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back!
I hope you didn't come home to rain. Your opportunity to have spring all over again reminded me of when we took our granddaughter on her college tour in her junior year of high school - Virginia, South Carolina, etc. They had fall there and then we went home to have it all over again. I liked that! (I would never travel where I would get winter all over again Ha!!)
ReplyDeleteI love the old homes and churches you showed us, and always like a good walk through a cemetery if there's someone we know or wish we'd known buried there. Lovely visit to your blog this afternoon. Thank you!
It sounds like you had a really nice break away from everything. Have a lovely week.
ReplyDeleteGreat post and your photos are lovely! I really like the reflections in your rain photo.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home, Dotsie. If you had visited here it would have rained everyday as well. How nice to enjoy another spring. Beautiful trees in their gorgeous spring finery. ♥
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how long I'll keep up. Even though I don't comment here, I always enjoy reading your posts.
ReplyDeleteA road trip is fun!
ReplyDeleteLove your first two photos of Spring blossoms - beautiful.
The old wooden buildings are similar to ones we have in New Zealand - I'd feel right at home!
Good to have you back Dotsie!
Always nice to step away and get away for a bit, to see new things and/or see things with new eyes. Looks like a wonderful trip.
ReplyDeleteIsn't the blossom so beautiful at this time of year. Glad you had a good trip.
ReplyDeleteHello, the spring blossoms are beautiful. I always enjoy a road trip, sorry about the rain though. Lovely photos. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week ahead!
ReplyDeletethese flowering trees are so lovely, loved the all pics ,in our city it rarely rains so i love to visit my small town when it is raining and look of things is changed
ReplyDeleteWe've had so much rain that your visited streets look like they could be right here! I love the dogwoods!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
I love road trips! Your photos are sooo pretty...lovely and quaint buildings! Yes, a little break is good thing as I found out by just being away from the blogging world for a week. Getting caught up is the hardest part! Have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteWe will be venturing out on a road trip in June, and I'm looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteThe best driving is on cloudy days, but rain is not! Glad you made it home accident-free. I figure you were either in the mid-atlantic or mid-west because that's all we've had lately--rain.
ReplyDeleteIt can be a challenge to take photos in the rain too. But you've taken some beautiful pics! And I love the hydrangeas in your banner. We don't see many down this far South so we decided not to plant any. We are going to get a Camillia bush though. The dogwood blooming with the cemetery in the background is a remarkable photo! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteVery pretty is your beloved's home town. That is one particularly handsome home and so beautifully maintained. Glad that there were visits with family and friends, too. Those trips are always fun. Lots of rain? Sounds like the weather that Martha Ellen has been enduring. We have all had odd spring weather.
ReplyDeleteI share your love of old homes and buildings that are full of interest and charm. You saw some pretty ones on your trip...great photos, Dotsie!! You have a good attitude about the rain. We have had an awful lot of rain here lately, but we have been soaking up the sunshine the past couple of days! It feels wonderful!
ReplyDeleteGlad to know that you had safe and happy travels...and that you're now home-sweet-home.
Nice trip - thanks for sharing, Dot! : - )
ReplyDeleteWhere was it that you went?
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely. I'm always excited to other parts of the country. Especially when they are so beautiful.
What a charming old home town! You got some wonderful photographs!!

ReplyDeleteWere you near me? Lovely photos of a nice hometown. Glad you had a good trip!
ReplyDeleteThe house you've shown sure has character, love the different textures on it. The diner seating looks nice and your trip sounds relaxing despite the rain.
