Last year the Gardener transplanted our peonies
from a spot where they just weren't getting enough sun.
Last year the blooms were barely worth taking note of.
This season looks promising. I brought our
first bud into the house and its bloom
is magnificent. I love the color and
decided to get up close and do a photo study of
our one solitary blossom (so far).
There's more buds on the bush and I'm looking forward to a great show!
Joining Judith's Mosaic Monday for the last time for awhile.
I think once a month is the plan.
Thank you, Judith for hosting weekly for so long!
Hello, I love these pretty peonies. Love the color! Beautiful images and mosaic! Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!
ReplyDeleteOh I am in the same boat with trying to find sun in this shady yard. I don't know that there is a spot any better. I certainly hope that your husband's efforts are rewarded because those peonies are gorgeous or that one peony as the case may be.
ReplyDeleteMy paeony has only just emerged from underground, so it will be a long time before any blooms appear. Your is exquisite.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful
ReplyDeleteLovely! My peonies are just emerging. It will be awhile before I even get buds. This is given me time to build cages around all 12 plants to keep them from keeling over this year. I have a whole row of peonies further out on our property, but the deer usually get most of the buds. I transplanted them soon after we moved here because they weren't getting enough sun. This was during my childrearing years. Because I didn't check on them, and because Ken didn't mow around them, trees sprung up around them and they don't get enough sun again! I also just recently learned that my boys would pull off the buds to throw at each other. No wonder they never bloomed much in all these years!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Hope your get a bunch more blooms.
ReplyDeletePeonies are one of my absolute favorites and you've captured why! Such beauty!
ReplyDeleteThey're surely gorgeous now! I'm so grateful that God put us in a world full of COLOR. Not a fan of black and white, unless it's a tile floor. :-) Oh, and also grateful that his world has such amazing diversity in scent, sound, texture, etc.
ReplyDeleteWe have recently transplanted a peonie from my in laws home and so far doing okay. I've heard they can be hard to transplant, I don't think we'll get blooms this year but maybe next year. Your bloom is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Dotsie...that collage is beautiful. I am anxiously awaiting ours to bloom, it will be another week or longer, I am guessing.
ReplyDeleteI have one that I would like to move, but have been afraid I'd kill it. It's a huge plant and does really well where it is...I just don't care for that spot for it.
Have a great week.
I can hardly wait for my peonies, so far there are stems up about 4 inches. You've shown the beauty of these wonderfully fragrant flowers from all angles with your one stem. With our backyard becoming shadier I may have to move some of my peonies to s sunnier spot too but for now I'm limbing up trees.
ReplyDeletePeonies are some of my favorites, Dotsie. I understand about the lack of sun. My three little ones are just beginning to bud. Your featured bloom is gorgeous. There is nothing like their beauty. ♥
ReplyDeleteWe have some in our garden, they are at more than 25 years old and the same for the Flame of the Forest bush.
ReplyDeleteIsn't nature wonderful
Ooohh...it's SO beautiful and your photos and collage are STUNNING! Peonies remind me of my sweet little mom :)
ReplyDeleteIt really is a big beautiful bloom and you'll probably have lots more this summer. Love your mosaic! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYou've treated that beautiful bloom with all the attention it certainly deserves. I hope there are many more blooms to accompany it. Our peonies are still fat round buds, a very promising sight.
ReplyDeleteI really love peonies. Glad yours survived and is blooming so well!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful peonies, I love them! Their brilliant color makes me happy and your collage is awesome! Great post!

I'm so glad your peonies are doing well. On a funny note, we had peonies a stand of peonies when we moved to our home. They were beautiful but in a weird place so I thought to transplant them in another flower bed and it killed them all. I do love them though and yours are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe peony is gorgeous. Ours are growing, weeks behind yours. Here they are usually ready for Memorial Day. I nearly killed one with too much horse manure; it still hasn't recovered. The lady where I purchased some of mine said to feed them rabbit pellets in the early spring because of the nitrogen in the alfalfa pellets. I do, and they live.
ReplyDeleteYour one bloom is gorgeous and I hope the rest are as beautiful. I also like your header photo.
ReplyDeleteYour peonies are lovely.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!
