There's something so appealing about an arch.
At least to my eye. I reach for my camera when I see one.
Here are five of my favorites--two from a botanical garden in
Grand Rapids, Michigan, one from the Blue Ridge Parkway,
one from Istanbul, and one from Munich.
You can probably guess which is which.
When I took this one in the pouring rain, I don't think I even realized
it was an arch in an arch in an arch.

You're right, there is something appealing about an arch. They act as a perfect frame for the background they share with us! Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteI think I recognize the Blue Ridge Parkway arch--or, at least one (or more) just like it.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
Munich, definitely!
ReplyDeleteThe shape of an arch is softer that the rectangle of a doorway and a one how, to me, more welcoming.
I recognized the Blue Ridge Parkway arch. Lovely Five on Friday.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great five, such an enchanting post I hadn't noticed the beauty of an arch before so I thank you for that.
ReplyDeleteWonderful arches! I especially like the arch within an arch photo, that is very beautiful isn't it. Thank you for joining Five On Friday this week, I do so appreciate it and enjoyed reading your post. Hope you have a great weekend! xx

These photos are stunning! I love the arch in an arch. Thank you too for leaving such a kind comment on my blog. I hope your weekend is fabulous! Pat xx
ReplyDeleteOpen doors and windowsills are my "thing." Arches qualify as an open door for me. Lovely photos, though two have me stumped.
ReplyDeleteI to like a good arch, It's exciting to pass below one into a new area.
ReplyDeleteMerle..........
Very pretty photos, Dotise. I love to see arches used in buildings also, except maybe the golden arches.♥
ReplyDeleteLove them one and all. Now I will probably begin seeing arches everywhere ;)
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way you do and these are beautiful captures. We have a few arched pass throughs (is that correct? Not doors opening to rooms) in our house and I simply love them. I love arched front doors on cottages, preferably homes covered in ivy.

I like arches too, I wonder if I've seen the one in Istanbul, definitely saw a few there.
ReplyDeleteSuch great photos :-)
ReplyDeleteI love each of your arches.
ReplyDeleteWe're headed to Ojai for the 116th Ojai Tennis Tournament today and after reading your post, I will be trying to capture an arch photo along the main street of Ojai.
Wonderful topic for your post today. Splendid archways.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a beautiful weekend ... coming to you from Amy's Five on Friday.

Wonderful arches for your five.
ReplyDeleteThey are all great in their own way. So unique. I love the arch in the arch and the arch...great photo!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! Each arch is different and each is pleasing to the eye. There is "something" about the arch that makes it special. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteA great topic for Five!
ReplyDeleteThe first and last are my faves!
A great collection of arches - I find their graceful shape very appealing, too.
ReplyDeletePodso,
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photography!
While spending our Tours of Duty within the European borders,
I could not bring myself to Tour Munich.
"Mr. Ed" booked a Bus Tour and went.
I'm glad he went.
I'm glad I didn't.
Your arches are absolutely gorgeous!
Fondly,
Pat
