In the pink with some chocolate

I didn't go to a favorite little resale shop looking for a pink covered dish.
(But I do love pink and it reminds me of my mother who loved the color.)
And when I saw this sweet pink serving bowl and lid for a song,
I was drawn to it.
I always see friends when I go to this shop, so I must have spoken
of my attraction to this dish because others heard me say it.
Before long women I don't even know were telling me I should buy it.
Talk about pressure! But it did seem to keep calling out to me.
Sure enough it came home with me and I have
enjoyed using it as I actually kind of needed a serving piece like this.
And it certainly makes a statement!
I probably should give it a name.
Thank you for all the comments on my "growing older" post.
Those kind of comments encourage me to continue blogging.
It's a goal list, rarely all accomplished, but when I do get close to it,
the day is a better one. As to the chocolate comments, yes.
I do partake for "health reasons" but am conflicted
right now in my attempt to avoid sugar.
Certainly dark chocolate contains very little sugar, right?

  2. Hi Dotsie,

I love pink too!!! It really is one of my favorite colors -- in home accessories, in clothing, and in nature. I'm glad you bought the pink bowl, especially since it will remind you of your mother. I have heard and read that dark chocolate is recommended over milk chocolate as being the healthier of the two. Of course, I think that just made me like milk chocolate all the more. :)

Thank you for your visits, Dotsie, and I hope you have a terrific week!

    Hugs,

    Denise

  6. I would have been sorely tempted by those pots! I believe that you're right about dark chocolate. At least that's my argument.

  9. I like pink too and I love that you bought it 'for a song' =). I wonder where that expression came from? Dishs are special and very useful also. I remember as a very small child...my great gran having a plate rack around the kitchen and all different plates I suppose....I must have been all of 4 years old.....but it rubbed off on me apparently, for I love dishes also. If I had the room I would collect meat platters and put them on a plate rack.....have a nice day!

  10. I do love your little pink server and how it reminds you of your mother! It is fun to make those kinds of discoveries...especially when they're bargains!

I justify dark chocolate as "health food." :)

  11. LOVE that pink dish. If I had been there, we might have fought over it :) And I think if you can limit your chocolate to an occasional square (easier for me to do when it's dark chocolate), it's perfectly fine in a healthy diet. At least that's what I tell myself.

  16. That is a pretty pink serving dish. I imagine the peer pressure to purchase was welcome, in this case. Enjoy using it!

  18. Sweet post, Dotsie. Isn't it fun when that happens at a store? I love striking up a conversation with strangers and others chime in. The dish is lovely. Can you name it after your mother? I actually lost 15 pounds since February, mostly by avoiding all sugar... and mixed nuts, which were my nemesis. How can mixed nuts, which are so good for me when I have a few... be not good for me when I have several handfuls a day???! Very dark chocolate doesn't have much sugar, but I avoid it because I can't leave it alone once I start. :-((

  19. Haha, don't you love the pressure from friends to buy something just for you? It was that way for me with the teapot fairy house but I love it and am glad it came home with me. I can see a lot of uses for this adorable pink dish - it doesn't look too big in the photo but I'm sure will be used in a number of ways.
By the way, didn't I read somewhere that dark chocolate is a food group? LOL
Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday Dotsie.

  20. Pink calls my name a lot too and I think that dish is quite attractive and you can do so much with it. When I saw chocolate, I thought maybe you were going to melt chocolate in the little pink dish...now there is a thought. I wish oh I do that there were a chocolate in the middle of dark and milk chocolate, then I would be happy~.

  22. Podso,
    Unique piece!!!
I adore it and feel you should give it a stately name. . . perhaps, Rosa!!!
One is continually surprised at what "catches" our eye!!!
    Great find, dear friend!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat
