along the way

My sister and I were driving at the beach near her house when we passed a familiar
looking house. We paused and looked --- all the rich foliage around the house was gone,
as were trees in the side yards. How different it looked.
This "beach castle" holds a special memory for us as we had an extended-family
vacation week there after a family wedding.
It is such a beautiful, romantic place.
The stairs were in the turret, the rooms filled with antiques,
and it was old even back then.

  4. Kyle just looked and said something about the castle and then said "oh wait! That's not a castle!"

Really special location and yes, castle.

  5. What a unique, one of a kind home! It does look romantic. I'd love to tour the inside!

Hope you are doing well, and gaining more mobility each day. I had my surgery last week and now the healing process begins. It will take awhile before I see results but I'm being optimistic!.

  6. How enchanting! It looks like a place right out of a story book. I can only imagine how lovely it is inside.

  7. Oh you can tell me more! It certainly must have looked so different without the trees around it. Which way do you prefer?

  8. Your post made me sad because our yard, in fact our entire state, is not as pretty as they could be due to the drought. My lack of color in the garden makes me sad just as looking up the the dry brown hills make me look sad.

I hope the rich foliage will be back at "the castle" where you have fond memories.

  9. Wow...what a great place...it does look like something from a storybook! I hope that you are continuing to heal and your new knee is working well! Those red apples in your new header are just so lovely :)

  10. I wonder why the trees were gone - and the other foliage you had remembered. It is fun and interesting (and sometimes sad) to drive past places we were fond of in the past. It does look lovely.
