up close

It seems you need to find still objects for close ups. I tend to take mostly photos
of books, flowers and food. Good lighting helps
but my point and shoot macro setting sans a tripod only does so well.
I am sort of mesmerized by close up photos.
Sharing with Donna's Photo Challenge. Thanks, Donna, for giving us another good challenge.

  1. I want to thank you for being a bit of a Victorian. ;D

Your photos have always made me happy. The stacks of books and homey goodness are exactly the kinds of photos I love.

  2. A nice assortment of subjects Dotsie. The salad looks yummy and I like the angle, it's food photography I need to work on.

  3. I like the variety of photos, too...most especially the close up of the books! Very nice! Enjoy your day! Hugs, Diane

  4. You picked four of my favorite things for these photos, Dotsie. Hydrangeas are one of my most favorite flowers -- love, love them. We don't have any growing in our yard, but every year I say I'm going to plant one.

You've been reading my blog long enough to know how I love books and the written word. The pale purple pansy is beautiful, as well. And finally, your delicious looking salad; lately it seems I love food WAY too much. Sigh. Your salad looks all the more appetizing because it has lots of color and texture. Great choices for macros. My point and shoot camera has a hard time with macro, too. :)

I hope you're enjoying our beautiful N.C. weather today, my friend. Have a great weekend!

    Hugs,

    Denise

  5. I too, am mesmerized by close up shots! I had a little point and shoot camera that I loved. It was a Nikon, and took the best macro close up shots. Yours are fantastic!!!

  7. Your first photo of the hydrangea sure did put a smile on my face! It is a beautiful composition that features colors and textures. Love the diagonal lines and colors of the books too. I had to chuckle when I saw the pansy because who can't resist those cute little flower faces? Not me, that's for sure. And the veggies sure do look tasty. I think you did a splendid job on this challenge!

  11. Your photo of book spines speaks to on a basic level - color, texture and desire. I want to pick each one up and open it. Isn't this challenge great? The veggies look good enough to eat ;)

  12. I'm a bit mesmerized by close up photos too. How close can I get? How close is too close? What little details can I find with the lens that I didn't notice without it?

    Love your hydrangea.

  15. Hello there. I am visiting for the first time here and enjoying all your photos. I really love the hydrangea, and the old books.

Donna's challenge gives me a chance to visit new blogs, and I have enjoyed reading a few of your recent posts!

Wonderful to find another doting grandmother who loves hydrangeas and old books, and a quiet Christian presence on the internet!

  16. Really well done, Dotsie. It IS much easier to photograph things that are standing still, not blowing in the breeze. Very nice light!

  17. Great pictures, but I love the pansy the best. My favorite flower!

  18. Never can wrong with hydrangeas - they are so beautiful and photograph well as they are bold and stay quite still for their portraits!

Love the pansy too - such happy flowers.

Nice choices for this fun challenge.
    Happy weekend - Mary

  30. Hi Podso,
Looking through and found this post....I, too, love close-ups. The camera lens allows us to see detail we otherwise would not notice. I, too, love to photograph flowers. I am amazed by God's creation and the detail and difference of each flower. Happy Easter to you and your family!
