We had a "good storm," if there is such a thing.
After the snow, sleet came down rather than the freezing rain
that would have caused power outages.
We were thankful.
We stayed in for two whole days and didn't mind a bit.
Sunday we carefully made our way to church as the ice and snow melted.
Meanwhile I enjoyed some time to putter and put up small
heart tokens to enjoy as Valentine's Day approaches.
Not that buttons have anything to do with hearts,
but whimsy is always nice.
"In this is love, not that we loved God,
but that He loved us . . ."
Oh, what whimsey and delight!
ReplyDeleteI haven't taken my "ice and bling and snow and frost" things down yet but think I may need to if we don't get some winter around here soon. This is all vexxing, haha.
I LOVE winter and we don't get it - most folks hate it and got inches and feet and yards of snow. Life, it isn't logical, is it!?
I am inspired to do a Valentine's post now, Podso! ♥♥♥
I'm glad you had a good storm, Dotsie. Such pretty hearts and decorations to enjoy and remind us of who loved us first. ♥
ReplyDeleteButtons are whimsy... I love that thing! All your pictures made me feel warm.
ReplyDeleteGlad you didn't get too much. We got about 20 inches and are still plowing out. WE were only IN the house for 2 days so not bad at all. Stay warm:)
ReplyDeleteI ike the thought of it being a 'good' storm! I think we are in for it here soon.
ReplyDeleteWe are grateful up this way that we did not lose power either, so it was a "good" storm in that sense.....and I'm still enjoying the snow scenes out my window. It is melting daily so I don't know how much longer it will hang around in my woods. It will be in piles along the road, however, for weeks I'm sure! I always love seeing your dishes and your decorations lend them a festive flare.
ReplyDeleteI loved your warm and cozy heart pictures this morning. Good way to wait out a storm. Looking around me, I see that our house could use some pretty hearts!
ReplyDeleteI adore your blue and white jars/vases. I need to think of something for my hubby for Valentine's day.
ReplyDeleteLooking at your fireplace, with the glowing fire....that's a perfect picture, in a perfect storm.
ReplyDelete*sigh* that fireplace......I will always feel attached to it!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I have that same heart 'cookie cutter'. No surprise there - we seem to love so many of the same things!
I love all your pretty dishes and your sweet touches for Valentine's. I'm thinking on what I am going to do. I'll likely get to it tomorrow.
ReplyDeletePodso,
ReplyDeleteCute heart sights, dear friend!!!
I love the string of buttons!!!
Yesterday, I lit our first "fire" of the Season. . .
5 candles burning in the fireplace!!!
Those attending the Committee Meeting in my home enjoyed the ambiance and the warmth!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Such a cozy fireplace shot! I have a few hearts here and there, not too many.
ReplyDeleteI saw one of those coffee thingies at Cost Plus yesterday and thought of you.
xo Kris
Oh I'm envious of your real fire Dotsie!
ReplyDeleteWhen we looked to buy our first house my brief was "lots of sun and a fireplace".
Two houses later it's still a dream for me!
Home is the best place to be in those weather conditions - we heard this on every news report from the US
Cozy by a fire during a storm is the best place to be. Our fireplace is gas but can be turned on thank heavens when the power is out. I like your whimsical strings of buttons and the hearts appearing for Valentine's Day. Say, you have a ready made collage created from your cabinet with the tea things. :-)
ReplyDeleteYour blue and white Dutch collection really catches my eye. I'm trying to decide how to redecorate my buffet and was thinking of putting my blue and white things on display. it's always nice to change things around a bit at home. Keep smiling!
ReplyDeleteLovely, restrained Valentine decorating. I am glad that you enjoyed two wonderful days of solitude. Storms are good for that!
ReplyDeleteI like the spot of red, buttons or hearts, either one, are nice contrast to the white mantle. More snow on its way for us. Can't wait. Ha.
ReplyDeleteLovely "heart" touches. I'm glad the storm gave you some downtime, hopefully without much concern.
ReplyDeleteI love the whimsy of the buttons and might try to make one myself.
ReplyDeleteI'm replying here on you comment to my latest post. Your comments don't go to my email. I think the rabbit dishes are the first print I have ever brought home. I liked the depth of the bowls for soup and chili so I don't think Steve will mind so much when I use them again. But, they won't be a nightly choice!
Your garlands are sweet and the fireplace looks so cozy.
ReplyDeleteThis is a visually beautiful post, Dotsie, and I love the scripture you included at the end. I sure do like all your pretty blue and white pieces; we both have similar tastes in that. :) I buy a piece here and there when I can, and I enjoy having them throughout the house. Your banners are so cute; I've bought the materials to make one, but I haven't done it yet. I'll probably be working on game food tomorrow. ;)
ReplyDeleteYour fireplace looks SO good; I really wish we could add a mantel frame like that to ours. Maybe someday. I completely agree with you about our storm -- not bad at all. We enjoyed hunkering down and staying in for a few days, too. Have a good weekend, Dotsie!
Hugs,
Denise
