Once when we were taking our son to college we stopped in an antique shop in Lancaster, PA. And there I saw a whole room turned into a 50s kitchen with black and white checked flooring and filled with pieces of Hall pottery. Since my mom always used a Hall teapot, I knew the name and the quality.
I came home with a few pieces and so began my collection of Hall creamers. I've always loved pitchers or "jugs" and their varied shapes, and I now had my love in miniature.
Looking for Hall creamers became our mission
when visiting antique or thrift shops.
They aren't easy to find.
Here are some of my favorites for their color or unique style.
I love the tiny ones without handles.
These remind me of what you might find when having
a cup of coffee in a diner up north.
I have two or three that obviously aren't Hall, and a couple don't have
the marking but are "cut from the same mold."
The Gardener found me the perfect shelf,
and I'd say my collection is complete!
It's fun to go antiquing with "direction" and a collection provides that. Your collection is lovely and your beautiful shelf is the perfect way to display your pitchers. It certainly looks complete. (I wonder what happens now when you come upon another?)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I love your Hall creamer collection! They make me smile too. There's something about creamers, and I think it's because they're just the right size and such good examples of the pottery. I have a couple creamers, one that is a greenish Frankoma, and a couple Hall pieces, a pig cookie jar and a lovely yellow medium size pitcher. I love how sturdy and simple they are. Thank you for sharing this with us. Your last collage is perfect! It would make a great poster.
ReplyDeleteOh they made me smile, too. I am a fan of the brown one and the yellow ones. I have a brown one "from the same mold" though I very much doubt that it is marked. Your shelf is perfect for displaying this wonderful collection.
ReplyDeleteLooks like we use about the same to touch up our images. I use iPhoto, but I also use Picasa to do the mosaics. I do love your creamers. they look very pretty on the shelf. I will be looking for them now.
ReplyDeleteHello, what a cute collection of creamers. I like the shelf and display. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!

ReplyDeleteI have a tiny collection of creamers but they are all white.
Interesting....Hall...
ReplyDeleteNow I'm going to be looking for them. I can't collect (no room) but I think it's the hunt that's fun.
But I do love the minis.
A wonderful collection. The colors are lovely. I have a few pitchers, watering cans, teapots, bells, as kitchen collections. Heck, I've got a whole lotta stuff. :) Have a great week. Tammy

The Hall creamers are unique Dotsie, I've not heard of this make before and with them all on your new shelf, you have a special collection.
ReplyDeleteGreat collection of colored pitchers!
ReplyDeleteI think they are really adorable. What a fun collection. My husband is the collector in my family...maybe I should start one.
ReplyDeleteI love your collection of creamers. I've not heard of this "Hall" name before but I love creamers and have a small collection of china ones with flowers, mostly roses, on them. Your display shelf looks great!
ReplyDeleteA collection after my heart - wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI do love hall creamers and have a few. I have a small antique shop and often find them to sell. They are good looking and sturdy and great to have.
ReplyDeleteThese are great! I see some like these when I am out and about. I'll have to start looking at the bottoms of them! I like them - what a fun collection!

A lovely collection with pretty colors and beautifully photographed.
ReplyDeletePodso,
ReplyDeleteAmazing Collection, dear friend!!!
I'll check our local Antique shop and Flea Market for Hall pitchers.
They look similar to the ones from my youth at the local diners!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Your collection of Hall pitchers is beautiful, Dotsie. Will you be tempted to buy more when antiquing? My shelf of Emma Bridgewater mugs is full and when I see a good buy on one I'm tempted. ♥
ReplyDeleteMy husband has a small collection of Orange Poppy Hall pottery...it is just amazing. we also have a great Hall butter dish we use!

What a beautiful collection, Dotsie. I never knew the name for this type of pottery, specifically the creamers, but I have seen them many places. You are right...just the perfect shelf for them!
ReplyDeleteDotsie, What a great collection! It has great colors. It's good to be able to say the collection is complete. Enjoy and smile. Sylvia D.

such a beautiful collection, love the colors!!!
ReplyDeleteWell now I have learned something. I am sure that is what my grandmother had. What a great collection.
ReplyDeleteThey make me smile too -- and that is definitely the perfect shelf. The gardener is a good man !! It really makes good sense to have certain things to look for when you visit antique stores. Now that your collection is complete, you will have to come up with another goal!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. I know nothing about Hall Creamers, but they sound like such a fun item to collect.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great collection you have there! Love them all!
ReplyDeletexo Kris
Collection complete? Don't make me laugh!
ReplyDeleteThat is a very pretty collection. I enjoyed hearing about how it started - isn't that the way so many collections begin? Are you sure that you are finished collecting?
ReplyDeleteA lovely collection of jugs I agree!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing nicer than meandering around antique and thrift shops - I know!
But the exercise takes on a whole new meaning when there is a specific purpose in mind!
Mine used to be birds which moved on to bells!
What a great collection! I am 45 mins. from Lancaster so am wondering which antique store you were in:) There are many up that way. I love poking around them too. Happy 2016!!!
ReplyDeleteYour collection is so pretty on its shelf. I do enjoy the shape of cream pitchers and their small size appeals to me. I have a tiny collection of pitchers but they are scattered rather than together.
ReplyDeleteHow fun to visit antiques stores with an eye out to finding something for your collection.
I have always loved your collection of miniature pitchers! That is indeed the perfect shelf for them.
ReplyDeleteLove your collection and so glad that you shared it on SYC. Have a wonderful weekend. Jo
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun collection! The shelving unit is just perfect. Sill me, didn't know that hall made creamers. I just thought they made vases. Thanks for sharing you wonderful collection with Share Your Cup. Happy to be a new follower.
