A lovely week at my sister's house; the luxury of time together.
(A colorful cottage we admired.)
We love to "house shop" and enjoy the creativity of others.
The weather was almost unbearably hot and unsettled until
the very last day when it became more what it should be.
Good food at her table is a given.
Sometimes it helps to clean out a linen closet with a sister's help.
So we did.
A visit to the great nieces resulted in a manicure.
I thought they did quite well staying "inside the lines."
It was a bit thickly put on, maybe because several
took a turn! I was amazed at their array of
colors; purchased originally for a homeschool science project!
Something new at the local library
The farewell sunset was even a bit stormy like the weather had been and would be.
A long ride home circumventing SC flooding.
We determined to enjoy the expanded ride through Georgia countryside
that was new to us. And we are thankful to be safely home again.
So fun to have a good family visit! That blue is a very pretty color! The Spanish style house is very much like some older houses in California. Beautiful photos of the sky and beach.

Love the houses. I'm determined that my closet will look like that--some day!! I see you are in fashion with the blue nails!!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
How fun to have a visit with your sister and to enjoy special moments together, even tidying the linen closet. :) I love that craftsman house and the sculpture of the children is so sweet. I'm glad you were out of harms way with the terrible rains and flooding and that you got home safely. I have great difficulty staying inside the lines when I polish my nails too. :) They don't get done very often.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a fun trip to see your sister, Dotsie. How wonderful to enjoy all the simple things in life together. Some of my best memories of my sister were working together on projects such as you did. I'm happy to see you are home safe from the storm. Enjoy your manicure as the out of the lines issue corrects itself with time. ♥
ReplyDeleteWell, it looks like you had a blast! Sister time is a precious commodity which I cherish and don;t get to enjoy very often...what a blessing for you both. Glad to were able to miss the flood and get home safely!
ReplyDeleteGlad you took the safe way home! Sounds like you had fun with the kids. Those nails are rather fetching. :-) Kids are so much fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. I love your sister's house! Fun to have great nieces, isn't it! That is the most adorable statue. Thank you for taking a photo of it!
ReplyDeleteA perfect time away doing some chores and shopping and just enjoying your time. How much longer was your trip as you went the scenic route?
ReplyDeleteHaving a sister to grow up with and are close with sounds like a true treasure!
ReplyDeleteYour continual seeking after beauty inspires me. Always.
ReplyDeleteI missed out on having a sister, but so enjoy my two daughters and their companionship. That traffic looks awful, as we experienced that when we traveled in upper east coast this summer. Beautiful pictures today.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to touch base with you again, Dot.. Please know I love your visits. I hope soon I'll get back to blogging more.
ReplyDeleteA family visit is always fun and fills the heart. Those skies looked ominous...I grew up in the prairies of Illinois and we had tornados threatening every day the temps were over 80! So clouds like these get my nerves going.
Hope you are having a good fall...the leaves are just starting to change here, I'm hoping for an Indian Sumer!

I am envious, not having a sister myself to visit and spend days together like you did. I like the blue nail polish and I've had granddaughter manicures in the past that I wouldn't dare show. LOL
ReplyDeleteThe salad plate looks delicious, good healthy eating obviously and the statues at the library are awesome.
Always good to get back home...
What fun to spend time with your sister. I can imagine all the chatting that went on as you organized and tidied around the house. The linen closet is so neat. Glad you made it home safely in spite of the long detour.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had some good sister time and made it home safely!
