rain catcher

I've always thought our side (back) door looked a little plain.
And a great place to get wet as
one awkwardly manages umbrella and packages
while unlocking the door during a rainstorm.
We finally did what we have talked of for years.
I think it adds a little charm to our house.
Thankfully we've had some rainstorms recently.
Good for the grass and garden's sake, but
also a chance to try out our new addition.
And it works great!

  1. It looks great! It is exactly what I have wanted for the front of my house, which John is wishing he felt like doing, but doesn't.

  2. Yes, it does look great and I'm sure will be a great benefit entering the house with hands full, in the rain.

  3. I know you will appreciate it when it rains as well as keeping the sun off of the door, Dotsie. It does add character. ♥

  5. Yes, that sure is cute, and functional as well! Isn't it funny, the things we 'finally' get around to doing. LOL We've got lots of those around here, some still in the planning stage, some actually completed. Love your new addition. It adds a little charm. :-)

  7. Yes, it does add a little something that was missing, and is helpful, too. I'm sure you glad you finally got it done. Best wishes, Tammy

  10. It reminds of the little porticos you see over English cottage doors. All you need now is a climbing rose to complete the illusion!

  12. I love it!
I am looking at something similar, but perhaps a tad bigger if we do not do a full porch on the front of our house! I love the charm it adds to your home!

  14. I love it! We had a similar situation out the back door of the cabin. Good for neither rain nor snow. The little roof works perfectly. Although, the cabin has been sold, and we are so very missing our happy place!!! I have missed blogging, and missed your posts. I have caught up a bit, a see that you are well, and enjoying live. Your hair looks great btw, and mine is much more gray/white! I am 55, and have now accomplished, what I feared would be impossible, I have let all grow out naturally. I don't hate it, but I am not used to it either. It was nice to check in with you.

  15. I love this little addition, Dotsie, and it totally changes the look of your back entrance. This is a great idea, and you all did a nice job with it. I like the flashing along the top and the pretty side supports -- makes me want one! :) Have a great day, Dotsie!!

    Hugs,
