looking back on December

Earlier this month we met some of our family at a halfway point for a
Christmas gathering complete with a Charlie Brown tree.
December is a time for family, and we remember those now missing
from our celebrations. While we miss them, we find comfort in a new generation,
also a bonus of growing older.
Sisters: one learning to play the piano, while Littlest has discovered pouring tea.
Both the Gardener and I were sick on and off with a virus through the month
but I at least managed to enjoy Little One's school program and our church's Messiah.
We savor meals with good friends around our table--even more as the years pass it seems.
Time with grandchildren is always precious. Here we are doing a sock puppet show.
A favorite time of the whole year is Christmas Eve with our family gathered around.
Joining Cheryl's last Gathering the Moments.
Thank you for hosting, Cheryl.
I've enjoyed participating this year and am grateful for Cheryl's friendship,
and for her encouragement to slow down,
to look back, and to savor the moments each month!

  8. Oh, Dotsie, how is it possible that they get cuter every time I see them?! I know you adore them... each and every one. I'm so sorry you and Gary had the bug... Roo got it Christmas week and then Alex followed this week... they left today heading home in hopes of making it before either Amanda or Jerry got it too... Pop Pop and I are holding our breaths hoping none of the rest of us get it!!
I've missed out on so much. I hope you are fully recovered from your knee surgery. Happy, Happy New Year, dear lady!! blessings and hugs ~ tanna

  9. I'll have to remember the tension rod in the doorway for our future puppet shows. I've saved all the boys' puppets, but really don't want to puppet "theater" to store, so that is a great solution. I'm sorry you've been sick....so glad you didn't have to miss everything. I stayed well until the day after Christmas--there was no way I was going to be sick in bed until Christmas was over! Your grandchildren look so sweet.

The best times are with friends and family together and - the candlelight service Christmas Eve. (love this photo)

  14. Oh, Dotsie, thank you for your kind words! I have loved "gathering moments" along with you this year and rejoicing together at seeing the Lord's hand as we reflect!

Your December "moments" are so sweet. Despite your being waylaid by illness, you managed to enjoy some lovely and special times. You know how I love a beautiful table, and a singing of the Messiah makes me swoon...but my very favorite photo from the month is the one of you with your grandchildren and the sock puppet show! I love it! All of your faces are so happy...what fun! And what an investment in memories!

A blessed New Year to you and the Gardener!

  15. Those little ones remind us of how blessed we are. Mine aren't so little but they give me joy in so many ways. I'm sorry you and your love were under the weather...as if you needed this on top of your knee. And I hope that is coming along well, too.

Sending love and wishes for a happy and healthy New Year!
