On a recent visit to my younger sister we popped into the lobby store
and had to stop and gaze at all this pink.
We enjoyed more pink in her granddaughters' little lego village.
And then watched their TV cooking show.
(Doesn't this make you want to go back to childhood and make a mud pie or two?)
Their dad gave them sawdust for sugar, grated cheese, breadcrumbs ... whatever ...)
Blueberry picking--and actually bringing them home this time.
So, so good.
Never, ever tire of a scene like this or the blue shades of the sea.
Arrived home just in time for our last mentor gathering of the year.
A casual, fun dinner--chicken curry with toppings.
My mom called it "Daffa Duka."
We gifted the girls with journals, oh so pretty
all dressed up!
Our sons built their dad new garden beds and a fence to keep
the deer and rabbits out. It looks promising!
And our hydrangea, who has been out of sorts for a couple of years,
is blooming in all her finery!
Oh, Dotsie - that pink pic with the teapot made me smile, smile, smile!
ReplyDeleteAnd your hydrangea - if you have used coffee grounds, tea leaves or old coffee or tea that got cold - put it at the root of your hydrangea - they love the acid!
And if you use Holly Tone or a good plant food it will give you very colorful flowers.
And, naturally lots and lots of water. We water ours once in the morning and once in early dusk to keep them very hydrated. Thus the name, and all that.
Just lovely - your family looks like they're having lots of fun! : - )
Hugs.
I love seeing how you set your table for all of your ladies! (Did I count 15?) Bekah takes charge of seating for our gatherings. She knows just which tables to use for each group. It seems like it should be simple, but I always miscount, so I am glad that she does it. I find that the most challenging part of setting a very long table is how to do centerpieces; I am taking note of yours. It's a great "problem" to have though. No complaints!
ReplyDeleteThe rows of pink teapots and dishes bring a smile, as do the array of Legos and the "cooking show" at your sister's house! Sweet!
Oh, and your hydrangea bush . . . lovely!!
DeleteYour grand girls are quite creative with that cool Lego village and cooking show efforts! Now, that's how kids should be having fun! You certainly set a lovely table and I am also admiring that wonderful old pie safe (?) in the background. Your garden looks fabulous...I think raised beds is the way to go and your hydrangea is so beautiful and looks like it will give you plenty of blooms.
ReplyDeleteMaking the rounds... precious times with your grands! I am a sucker for a hydrangea, real or in a photo! I am glad yours decided to bloom again. I lost several of mine in the drought we had two summers ago. So sad to see them go!
ReplyDeleteI love the soft shade of pink in the dishes! And the lego village is a lot of fun for all ages. I love the journals you chose to give and the way you displayed them. You always make everything look like so much fun! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos of good times with family. Such a cute one of the cooking show chefs. The long table looks inviting for your friends to enjoy a lovely lunch. I really love how your sons have built a fort for the garden beds! Should keep the mammal eating critters out. Oh my, what a lovely hydrangea! ♥
ReplyDeleteWe've had so much rain here while we were away our grass has exploded but flowers are waiting for the sun to return.
ReplyDeleteSo many pretty things in this post - the pink dishes, the hydrangeas, the lovely journals, and that table for your mentees.
ReplyDeleteThe garden is looking really promising. And so tidy! I love hydrangeas. I read Michele's comment and thought uh oh, I don't do any of that stuff. Mine survive through benign neglect I guess. They're so pretty. And I love the "cooking show!" xo Deborah
ReplyDeleteI just found you and already know you are "my kind of people". lol...I am your newest follower and will put you on my sidebar so I don't miss any posts! Hope you have a blessed, wonderful Memorial Day! Hugs- Diana
