eggs and a little more

Farm fresh eggs as local as from the backyard where we were visiting.
Such gorgeous shades of "egg" and, yes,  delicious.
Friends … I think.
No matter how short the country visit, refreshment comes in large doses.
It's hard to believe my father would be 100 this week.
He loved to read and could pick up any book and enjoy it for a few minutes.
Of course he also read whole books.

  1. Nothing better than farm fresh eggs. Yes, I believe the three are friends. Happy Day!

  3. We love our fresh eggs!

I wouldn't write it that way! Seems cumbersome.

  4. Every item on Wendy's menu is fresh. (Not terribly catchy)

The goal at Wendy's is super fresh. (Hmmmm...this is not easy.)

Wendy's spin is fresh. (Oh bugger it! 🤦🏻‍♀️)

I like that picture of your dad. Do you have it displayed?

  6. That's such a great photo of your dad - hard to believe how quickly time passes. Your egg photos would be wonderful printed and hanging on a kitchen wall.

  7. I'm not sure of the choice of words in the Wendy's slogan, but I will say that you have a way with words. As in, "gorgeous shades of 'egg'" and (love this one!) "No matter how short the country visit, refreshment comes in large doses." Yes.

What a handsome man your father was! Love that he was holding a book in his hand. I am guessing that you are like him in many ways. May your memories be comforting as you reflect on this one hundredth anniversary of his birth.

  8. The shades of eggs always amaze me. Does this tie in with the freshness question. I have to say I like it as is, if we can believe it.

I love the photo of your dad, he looks like a reader, and very happy! My dad would have been ninety on September 2. I so miss him---we lost him at eighty-five.

  10. Ah yes...nothing like those beautiful eggs...so many wonderful shades of "egg" as you said. We get them from our son sometimes and I love seeing them displayed in a bowl or a basket. One day I hope to "grow" my own! :D What a great photo of your dad...the pic be titled "The Reader". I was just telling someone this week that if my dad were still alive, he would have turned 106 this past August!

  11. Yes, such a great photo of your dad! It must be very special to you.

Lovely photo of the fresh eggs. I agree with Cheryl about your way with words. I felt the same way while reading your post.

  12. Neat post. Great photo of your father - he looks so chill. : - )

Dave and Wendy's started here in my city of Columbus. That is one awkwardly written grammar-killing "sentence," is it not? Yikes.

Still love Dave and still love Wendy's - esp their fish sandwiches during Lenten season.

Good to see you, Dottie. Nice to be back in blogdom again, sorry I was gone so long, hope to post more often. Hugs.

  13. Hi Dotsie,

What lovely eggs these are!! I need to see if I can start finding farm eggs around here. :) Is that your granddaughter with the horse -- such a cutie she is. I have to tell you that I really can see your dad in you; I think the smile is very similar. As to the Wendy's slogan; it seems a little awkward to me somehow. I'm not that impressed with advertising slogans these days. ;)

Thanks for sharing, Dotsie, and thanks for your visits this week. So glad you enjoyed seeing the Hamner homeplace. I'm trying to catch up on my visits now; I see you posted this while I was traveling. Where did you go for your trip to the country? I hope you have a great week!

    Hugs,

    Denise
